I did the Rosen nav system too, its not too bad, but after using it awhile, there are some things that are kinda bugging. I haven't hooked up the boxes yet, but they are installed. VERY COOL! I hope this helps people who are considering this install. + Install = super easy. The hardest part was pulling panels off. - Navigation hangs up a lot! - Scanning through a CD especially an MP3 CD takes FOREVER! - Lights on the buttons are really dim, so it kinda doesn't match. - FM reception is even worse than the stock stereo! - Not customizable. You can store CDs on the radios HD, but you can't rename the 'button' that says 'Disc 1', 'Disc 2', ect... + The texture finish does a pretty good job of matching the rest of the center console area. + The radio looks like it belongs in the car! Pretty awesome fit! - RDS display is only like 8 or 10 characters long. There's a huge screen but it doesn't use it! Overall I do like the features of the Rosen unit. I like that I can play DVD and it does have more oomph than the stock unit. Even though I listed more negatives than positives, I would recommend this unit, you really can't beat all the features, nav, dvd, mp3, iPod, usb, sd card... I'm sure there are more things I could list, but you get the idea.
Could you give a bit more detail on "- Navigation hangs up a lot!". Exactly what does it do? How do you get it going again? Thanks, Keith
Alright bud, Details on the speakers please! How did you fashion those custom boxes and what products did you use?? Biggest CONCERN. Did you need a harness to hook up those 10inch subs? Thank's a bunch
Unfortunately I don't really have any details. I found the boxes for sale on Craigslist!! Thats about all I can really tell you. I installed them, but haven't actually hooked them up yet. Sorry. They sure look nice tho! They are shaped on the back side to form to the stock plastic panels, and I can still open up the bottom panel to access the under storage tray. If anyone is really interested, I'm sure I can get the name of the shop that made them. They seem like very nice quality. I do know they are from a place somewhere in the 909. hollar if interested and I'll dig up the info.
Meekoish, I would deffinately want to know who made these sub-boxes. They are really cool and don't take up much room. I want to have a pair for my Prius. Thanks for any info!
Can you tell us where did you place the GPS/Radio antenna? Did you get good GPS reception? Did you have chance to test AM radio when compare to stock radio? I will use AM a lot. How's the screen resolution? Thanks.
ok, i missed placed the info. now its found. The shop is called Stereo USA its in the upland/monclair area (909, sorry I don't have the number). The guy that built the boxes is named Anthony. hope this helps.
Where did you get the carpet for the subwoofer enclosures? I am going to build some subwoofer boxes and there is not a clear source for factory colored carpet.
