:cheer2:Hi All~ I actually bought my Prius (2nd generation 2008 Grey, navi/bluetooth package) November of 2008, but I just found the forums today as I was trying to figure out why my auto unlock sensors weren't working. I love my prius, it's my baby. So far 33k on it and enjoying it lots and this site seems like a plethora of information.
Sorry. I'm probably describing it incorrectly. When I have my key in my purse, I just put my hand onto the door and it unlocks, and I don't have to stick the key in to turn the car on, it just needs to be nearby. I just learned today that you could turn it off and on because the car wash guys clicked the button off on my car, and I had never noticed the button down there under the steering wheel.
Welcome to the group Pinkie, what you are describing is called the SKS pkg, yes there is a button under the steering wheel to turn it off if you are not going to drive it for an extended period of time. It will make the 12 volt battery last a little longer. Eventualy you will have to replace said battery, thats the time to upgade to an Optima Yelowtop. To turn SKS back on, just push the button!!! You have come to the right place for answers to questions about your Prius! Remember, while there are no stupid questions, it's just stupid not to ask them!!! PLEASE, ASK AWAY! That's why a number of us are here, we understand our Prius, and like to help out others!!
