check engine light

    I have read all the posts , I have a 2010 with 4000. miles on it. Check engine light came on. After reading everything I went and checked my fuel cap and yes it was not on. Now the ce light is still on. What next, do I wait and worry or go to the dealer. ??

    I believe it will clear after 3 start up cycles(power on/off) if in fact there is no other problems.

    I was told by the dealer that it will clear itself after driving 200 miles

    I could tell something was wrong because mpg dropped alot. It went from 40 something to 30 something quick. Then the light came on. I have made several small trips, mpg is back up in the 40s but the light is still on.

    Your car will have to complete its tests of the evaporative emissions system. This is usually accomplished over several moderate drives and overnight cool-offs ("cold soaks"). Be patient.

    Thanks guys, I sure hate to get out on the road and find out it is something else :) Yes under warranty and extended warranty.
