2006 Prius Option Codes, Package Contents and Color Combos

BAD NEWS...... Just got off the horn with Toyota and they have told me that under no circumstance will the pricing for the 2006 Prius be released before the 17th of November!!!! That comes from CAT (Central Atlantic Toyota)..............sorry to say....anything else, and they told me anything....................is just speculation and I sent them the numbers that were posted here and on Priusonline and they said they were wrong..........First thing was that Frieght is going up from $565 to $585.

If I hear anything else I post it.............

The spec sheets have been available for some time, you are correct. What I was pointing out was that the site itself had been reorganized, with the Prius link sending you to the MY06 page, as opposed to the MY05 page. The '06 spec sheets had previously been on the MY05 page.

Do you know what packages will be allocated to the CAT region? I have heard it will be packages #2, 6, 7, and 8 (or codes HE, HK, NL, and NW). I really was hoping for a package #4, 3 or 5 but not all the way to #6. Do you know what will be allocated to the SAT region as well?

 

If you find the right dealer, they'll be willing to trade between regions. They're hard to find, but perhaps someone on PC has some advice.

 

A dealer in the CAT region told me that the allocations are just as you stated, in the following percentages:

#2 - 15%
#6 - 52%
#7 - 25%
#8 - 8%

 

Yow! 8% for package 8! Those of us who want the loaded car are in for a big surprise. Thank goodness I'm #3 on our 2006 list!

 

those percentages look like the ones i remember from our dealer's sheet.
the only difference between #7 and #8 is the leather, i think.
so the #7 is almost "fully loaded" too!

Leather is huge to me, although a bit chilly in the winter - that's why you get seat warmers!

 

According to the color chart, there are several colors (Magnetic Gray, Blue Ribbon Metalic, Turquoise MM) that Toyota isn't releasing for their cars until this later date.

The speculation I read was that it's tied in with a Toyota anniversary. According to an article in Wikipedia, Toyota "was established as an independent company in 1937". That would make the 2007 model year Toyota's 70th anniversary.

 

Silver Pine Mica is on the new Avalon. Haven't been able to locate one where I live.

Barcelona is a new Toyota red, joining Salsa Red Pearl, Absolutely Red, Impulse Red Pearl and Radiant Red.

 

With 85% of the available cars concentrated in the three most loaded packages and the remainder available in only one other package, I think those of us who do not want a loaded car have the most to complain about here.

 

Better observation. I've had my blinders on for a while...It's difficult to think that #7 and #8 are just a difference in leather seats.

 

Package 4 would be my first choice for the extra airbags and VSC.

I wonder how accurrate that is? Tom heard this from a dealer, but perhaps the dealers are just as "in the dark" as we are.

If the dealers know before 11/17/05 what the price will be, it will get leaked - somewhere. Otherwise, Toyota Corporate has sent out a letter telling everyone that the '06 prices will be released on the 17th. Or perhaps the dealers have the pricing informaiton and there's a gag order in effect.

Any way you look at it, if the dealers know more than they're saying, we'll hear about it on PC - we're a very sly group of intense buyers.

If Tom can somehow produce more evidence, I think we'd all be more interested. Perhaps a scan of a letter from Toyota saying the date of the price release?

 

Why is it difficult to think this? I am not big on the leather, but I want every other option, #7 is the one for me! Now if these seats were heated, that'd be a different situation entirely...

anyone know if the nav computer on the 06 will be able to do more than 8 chars, or is that just a limitation of the 3rd party addons like siriusprius?

 

I'm right there with you Kiloran. I wanted #4 for the same reason. Then would rather go #5 then #3 but not happy with having to jump from #4 to #6. Might have priced itself out of the savings of getting a hybrid to begin with.

 

I still have a difficult time thinking that a package would be a single item as small as leather seats. It just doesn't make sense to call a lot of these things packages...but the alternative would be calling them options, but I guess they're not options because options seem to suggest that you can choose some options but not others.

I think it all boils down to me having my blinders on.

 

I think they should bundle in a sunroof (and heated seats) with the leather. make it a "luxury" package or something
