My speedometer and Gas gauge went black on my 2010. Took back to dealer and they had to replace a card in the dash. Anyone else have that problem?

Mine just died tonight at 32000 miles. Pretty cold tonight, somewhere around 10 degrees I think. (I was driving the 81 Ford F150 tonight, which is mind-blowingly reliable but was pre-cup holder let alone thermometer...)

I guess I'm off to see the dealer...

Haha, mine died around 15,000 miles. (I would have to check my service records.) It was cold out too. I remember they loaned me a Prius, and I was 60 miles from the dealer. They took a very long time to get it done, it was the first gen 3 they had to do anything like that to, and I think they may have broke something on the car and had to order it.

This happened to me just before Columbus Day, it was a nice day with temps in the 50's. While driving in VT the left side of my display with the gas guage, speedometer, instant mileage and gear indicator went blank, the HSI side of the display was fine. At the time, the car was 14 mos old and had about 14k miles.

I carefully drove 3 hrs home and dropped it off at the dealership. The service guy said they hadn't seen this before. He had to get up from his desk & go see it for himself (and verify that the old blonde broad hadn't missed the obvious). The local toyo parts depot happened to have the board in stock - which led me to think I wasn't the only one this happened to.

Just out of curiosity: for those that have had the repair done, how did they know what mileage to set it to? Did they ask you?

isnt the milage stored elsewhere? Cause people would just change out the boards and lower the milage at resale... right?!

The odometer reading wasn't an issue as far as I know, but I lost Trip A and Trip B info. That was a bummer since I hadn't reset Trip A since we got the car so I had the average mpg over 14mos. I do a manual mpg calc, but when the husband fills up the car he tends to 'forget' to reset the trip display and record the data.

May want to ask that service guy that if this is the first incident of this type why did they have the part in stock? Do they have all the spare parts for new cars in stock? Or, just pure luck which I doubt.

The part wasn't in stock at the dealership, but rather at the Toyota parts depot (in Randolph, MA I think) so they were able to go and pick it up. The depot having the part in stock lends support to the idea that failures are happening, but then again, I'd expect a well stocked regional depot to have one (at least) anyway.

The service guy who checked my car definately hadn't seen the problem before. He was pretty perplexed and wondered why only half of the display was down when both sides are controlled by the same board. There may have been other repairs done at the dealership that he didn't know about.

Anyone have trouble with the mpg cont. miles and so forth on the bottom of the hybrid indicator panel getting all fuzzy. Looks like water spots or dirt

Not me, but there's been tons of posts on the subject. Take it in: It's a repair job.
