3rd tank of gas I decided to drive from Dallas to Austin. So some city, but mostly highway. With 282 miles of trip behind me, my consumption shows 65.3 MPG. Now I realize that the computer might be off a hair or two, but my gosh. I am ecstatic with those numbers. Can't wait for this baby to get broken in
Dallas to Houston... 264.8 miles with 61.6 mpg. A/C off, cruise set to 64 mph, 74 Deg outside. I'm pleased.
Does the gasoline there have 10% Ethanol added? Normally, you will not see that many MPG's with 10% Ethanol gasoline. alfon
WOW! great numbers. Is the highway from Dallas to Austin primarily flat or just downhill most of the way? Congrats!
Important yes, but even if driving at 55 MPH empty this would be impressive. But to answer, had a couple of suitcases, about an 80 pound camera bag (we shoot for a living) and a passenger. I just set it on cruise at about 67 I think it was. Moderately hilly road.
1st year anniversary of ownership. 8168 miles. XM radio rocks! very nice to have. I think It takes time to learn how to drive to achieve the best consumption. In the beginning it was only 44.2mpg, I tried using ECO , PWR. From my experience, when in highway use PWR mode. When leaving work, use EV around your company parking lot. Otherwise don't select anything. ECO mode button is the worst. I now achieved 66 mpg , just driving 6 miles one way from home to work, in a mix of local streets (zanker rd) and highway 101 around silicon valley.
You're saying you never use ECO mode? I have never taken mine out of ECO mode. I just got 65 today stop and go and highway driving. So if you use EV when going really slowly, and power when going highway, what do you do in stop and go traffic? Do you cruise control on highway? Do you pulse and glide?
65+ mpg is very believable in Texas, New Mex, or Arizona. Flat land + hot weather = killer mpg combo. But in SiVa? Not that I doubt you Chip but 101 aint that friendly.
If I am not in EV mode, or PWR mode, I don't press the ECO mode button. when I am in stop and go traffic, I use the default, whatever it is. if you don't press any button, what is it?
Usually I do not race , I drive slow. My morning commute in streets, then 101 rush hour, slow traffic. My after 6:30pm commute, also slow.
