Hi everyone, I just bought a 2010 Prius II after lurking here and reading everything I could about the vehicle both good and bad. I have only got about 250 miles so far after having driven Nissan Altima V6s for the past eight years----quite a change though not as much as I expected. The amount of info that is available in the owner's manual alone is enough to boggle the mind (at least mine). I found the 12volt battery yesterday and it reminds me of a battery for a large motorcycle or a substantial garden tractor. I am amazed at the amount of technical details in this car but most of all do I love the mileage! Hope this car is as dependable as the two Altimas were.
Congratulations and welcome to PC! Wait till you walk out in your garage at 9 PM after the car's been sitting for several hours and all of a sudden it starts to hum like there is a small motor running somewhere and you can't find it! Talk about mind boggling!
Welcome. I like you name! I recently traded in our Nissan Quest mainly because of the FE and it rode like a truck on our bumpy streets but loved the big V6 for its power and the versatility of the big box form. Just curious, did you consider the Altima hybrid?
My name came from the fact that the only motorcycles I rode were BSAs and I loved them! No I did not consider the Altima hybrid because of the gas mileage. Right now I have a Yamaha Roadstar and a Kawasaki Concours 14 and the Prius with only 300 miles gets better mileage than either bike----pretty strange but amazing:crazy:
Every morning since I got the car (Wednesday) I have heard weird things from it and I keep reading and looking and reading and looking----actually kind of fun
Follow up question I don't have my Prius yet, but am curious on what this refers to. What makes the car start to hum? Is it turning itself on? Is there something to do when you hear this noise? I get a little scared reading about all of these technical gizmos on the Prius. Sandy
Re: Follow up question Unfortunately, the manual does not detail these noises beyond stating they will happen and are normal. I wish there were more of a detailed explanation of what is happeneing and why they seem to occur at such odd times and random intrevals... Thus far it has not burst into flames, launched itself through the garage door, or taken off on any expeditions without me, so I guess all is fine...
