Well, the driver's door actuator has finally given up on me. I am not entirely sure how long it has been that way. I've probably been locking my car with the remote and unlocking it everyday not realizing that the driver's door has not been locking. Anyway, I was wondering if it was possible to swap the actuator with one of the other doors that I rarely use (such as one of the rear doors) or is each door unique and I'm screwed and will just have to buy a new one?
Remove the actuators and compare their length, mounting holes, and connectors. Failing that, check to see if the part number is the same for at least one other actuator.
I would assume they are unique to their position. My civic had the same problem on the driver side since it locked/unlocked the most over the 110k miles. The driver and passenger side actuators looked the same but mirrored. My guess would be it is similar in a Toyota... But I do not know for sure.
I guess you didn't understand that the point of me posting the question here was that I didn't want to go through all that trouble if somebody on here already knew the answer.
toyodiy.com is an excellent website for a Toyota DIYer to save as a "favorite" because it provides Toyota part numbering information. The short answer to your question is no, it is not possible to swap the door lock actuators. 69110 ACTUATOR ASSY, FRONT DOOR LOCK, RH69110-30010 NHW11 1 $124.77 69120A ACTUATOR ASSY, FRONT DOOR LOCK, LH69120-30010 NHW11 1 $124.77 69130 ACTUATOR ASSY, REAR DOOR LOCK, RH69130-30110 NHW11 1 $124.77 69140 ACTUATOR ASSY, REAR DOOR LOCK, LH69140-30110 NHW11 1 $124.77 You can buy a replacement from Champion Toyota for $85 plus shipping, and I would say this is a very reasonable price. One of the solutions I suggested was to check part numbers. A five-minute task on the phone or online. I see that Patrick Wong has been kind enough to do that and more on your behalf, even though you apparently couldn't be bothered to do so yourself. Perhaps you could manage the effort to thank him?
I have the same problem on my 01 prius, both the passenger side and driver side are shot the motors dont operate at all, im going to take it apart when this Florida heat dies down
Does anyone know if there's a step-by-step guide for taking the door apart and getting to the actuators? It'd be great to know what I'd be getting into beforehand.
You can view the shop manuals and other service information online at techinfo.toyota.com for a subscription fee; an inexpensive two-day subscription should be enough to download the sections you need. (If you start with a list of section URLs, as I think hobbit once compiled, you should be able to download the complete manuals with the two-day subscription.) If you like manuals on paper, you can order them from the Toyota materials distribution center at 800 622 2033. -Chap
I have a 2001 Toyota Prius. The driver side door lock stopped working for no reason. The door lock is not working with remote control neither with the master switch from inside the car. All other 3 door are working fine. I checked the fuses, they are all fine. Removed the door panel and every thing looks OK to me. I think it should be the actuator. Any body has alink or video help me to replace the actuator? It looks like to be tricky. thanks alot
