2010 w/ 16k miles 5 hrs after shutdown i head something running under the car,, was louder under the car vs listening thru the inside,,, sounded like a fuel pump or small fan i turned pwr on and off and it stopped any ideas thanks
That probably was the pump that applies pressure to the fuel system to test its integrity. Let it run, when it wants to.
RTM, page 22, Noise from under vehicle after turning off the hybrid system: " ... This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check, and does not indicate a malfunction."
thanks,, yea i had seen that in the manual, but it ran for over 5 hrs,,(i was in and out of the parking area every few minutes and thought it was the batt maintainer that was on my bike but eventually realized it was something more...therefore it was running constantly i think.... anyway thanks and stay tuned,,, i cant wait until it gets broken in,, at 16k it is still running better and better. regards.
It shouldn't run for more than a minute or two. If something continues to run for five hours, it's time for a trip to the dealer. Tom
Was the sound *after* 5 hrs, or it had been *running for 5 hrs*? If the sound was short (less than 30 secs - 1 min) *after* 5 hrs - it is fine. If it was running for 5 hrs, instead, trip to the dealer.....
Where is the OP? As posted above if it ran after 5 hours for a short time, no problem. If it ran continuously for hours this might be a clue to the "dead battery while parked" issue.
