Very nice!! That would work for those that want DRLs.

Did anyone that put LEDs into their tail lights on a G2 have the dash light come on for the light circuit? I put some LEDs into a friends G2 and he said the light came on the next morning. Luckily, I had the original incandescent parking lights from my G3 to give to him as I had put LEDs into those.

I did have 1 of the parking light LEDs act up, but I think it wasn't set completely into the socket. I haven't had any issues with them since I replaced that one.

Re: Leds in Front Amber Lights

Hi Pat. Thanks for all the pics. I haven't been on this site for awhile since I've been spending more time on 2 motorcycle forums. So far, I still have my Amber HP5's from superbrightleds installed on the front parking housing with good results. I think the warning from superbrights apply to LEDs installed on headlamp housing that may be used as DRLs...this is not recommended.

Overall, I am very happy with what I have installed to date.

I will finally get the chance to pull that large plastic panel in the trunk to access my license plate bulbs. I have a pair of PIAA superwhite LED bulbs that will look great. Also thanks on the warning...need to pay attention to what I have to do and make sure those clips don't break on me and re-installed properly.
    :)

Good Lord, that site looks 1995 scary.

I'm glad this subject has come to my attention. I was wanting to do this pretty soon, but will probably get to the tint first. I still want to see a few more vendors dealing these where I can get all the interior lights from one place at a decent price and quality. I suppose when my head/tail lights wear out I'll look at replacing them then. The yellow glow has got to go... Has anyone mixed the colors. I thought the map lights and such could be white, but maybe the door lights blue. Does anyone have photos of such a setup? I'd love to see some accent lighting.

I know alot of members have reported that their lights dont flash when arming the alarm after replacing the flasher with a LED flasher. Well I can report that the flasher that I bought still flashes the hazards. Below is a link to the company that I got the flasher from & the Leds that I installed. I will post a vid when I get a chance.

Thanks! That site has some funny languages that made me laugh:

Toyota Prius 2004-2009 Super Bright SMD LED Interior Map Dome Lights

Technically 1.5 pair = 3 which is the correct number for the front dome but still...

OK, you hooked me, I just spent $8 bucks for the flasher module.

Looking forward to posting some positive results!!!

    A - Good Memory!!!
B - No, but I have them, and I took a look at what there is to work with as far as the lower grill goes, it's pretty flimsey down there... I have 3 weeks of Vacation that we are going to spend working on projects around the home, and building a STURDY mount for these is in order. There is NO POINT to having the DRL's look like a drunken fool installed them!!! I am going to make them aimable, and sturdy! This will work out, I just have to plan, construct, install ...simple!

Thanks for the inspiration! I took a different route and finally got it done:

    http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-modifications/82967-homemade-diy-led-drl-long-journey.html

    :)

Yes you get what you paid for. For interior lights that are used only briefly it's OK to use cheap LEDs. I went for name brand LEDs (much more expensive) for the DRL project linked above. Hope this helps. :)

    I
This thread seems to fit my post more than most of the other 50 about LEDs. I do have an '08 and it has to do with LEDs, but the interior kind. I found a lot of information in my research that gave me some good ideas. I ordered my interior lights from DealExtreme and let me tell you shipping is painfully slow. I ordered my lights 10/06 and they got here just a day under 5 weeks. The install went pretty well, except I thought I could get away with a bigger LED cluster in the doors. I did with some modifications (see photo).

Here's a list of what I bought with some notes on things I would do differently.

    Vanity Lights
    #31 1.5W T10 Car Festoon 75-Lumen White LED - Aluminum Shell (DC 12V) 2-Pack x01 $9.60

    Map Lights
    T10 1.5W 75-Lumen White LED Light Bulb for Vehicles - Aluminum Shell (DC 12V) 2-Pack x01 $7.25

    Front and Rear Interior Lights
    1.8W White 12-LED 72000mcd Cabin/Dome/Door/Glove Box Light (12V DC) x03 $20.37

I had thought this would fit in the cargo area, major-wrong-o. I should have ordered a rectangular board, or a 5-bulb festoon. I'll need to resolve this, it's my only bulb not replaced.

    License Plate
    F102C 1.6W 36-Lumen 2x5050 SMD LED Car White Light Bulb (Pair/DC 12V) x01 $10.40

    Doors
    T10 3W 100-Lumen 9x5050 SMD LED Car White Light Bulb (2-Pack/DC 12V) x01 $7.10

I did some modification here, but it worked out alright. I took a 1/2" drill bit and made the existing hole enough to slide the housing through.

Overall it went smooth. 5-bulb festoons for the doors and cargo would have been much better that the ones I picked. Perhaps square or rectangular boards for the front and back interior lights would have looked just as well. Watch out for that 3M sticky side, once it's attached it's not coming loose. I would have liked to move the rear light over a half an inch, but it'll work. I will probably post some photos of the light show once it's dark.
