I want to install this bumper protector because I have some dents on the top of mine: http://priuschat.com/shop/product_info.php/cPath/1/products_id/80 My problem is that one of the dents actually just barely pushes up part of the lip. It happened when I got tapped in the parking lot. Will this make it hard for the adhesive to stick? Thanks. Here is the damage, pic was taken a few months ago.
I don't think it will make a difference. The part you show will protect the top of the rear bumper as you load & unload cargo. it's not going to help in collisions unless you are going to get pieces long enough to encircle the car.
Gah I'm not asking which part it'll protect...I'm asking will that pushed up dent on the lip of the bumper cause the protector to sit unbalanced and not stick fully.
Don't think anyone here has installed one after an accident, most of them are installed at port. Why don't you install it and let us know if it will fit? That will be a great help to PCers here.
It will probably stick. I agree with everyone else though, the bumper is screwed...I wouldn't waste the money.
I believe it will fit. Anyone who has self installed this part will know that the double stick tape that attachs it to the bumper, actually spaces it up some what. The lip on the bumper protector will actually conceal some of the damage!
EXACTLY. I don't plan on replacing my bumper because the damage was never great enough to warrant a $500 repair. I see this bumper protector more as a "cover" for me, to hide the dents along the top of my bumper.
I don't remember if there's tape on that part of the bumper protector underside. But if there is, I still think it will fit fine. The tape used is 3M automotive foam tape (you can get some more at an auto parts store if and when you need it) -- there's some give as it was meant to account for slightly uneven surfaces. BTW, I think the bumper protector will look especially good on your Magnetic Gray:
Thanks Boo. Knowing that the adhesive is a foam really helps. If it was just a sticker I would have my doubts. At $37 from the PC store w/ free shipping it doesn't seem like a bad deal at all.
