The one I picked up had only 26k miles on it over the 5 years it was owned. Is that something I should be worried about? From the little I've read over the last week I saw that leaving it sit for long periods can be problematic but from the maintenance records it just appears that whoever owned it previously didn't drive it that much (although they kept up with servicing it well) anything I should look out for? I wouldn't worry about the low mileage at all. The previous owner averaged a little over 5000 miles a year. I average even less than that.
Be careful on ice, snow and deep gravel. The 2004-2005 models had very aggressive traction control and if your tires are not up to the conditions you could get stuck. On normal roads you are usually fine but on ice or thick gravel on a slope you could get into trouble. No problems with my 2005 in over 122,000 miles. Other than getting stuck.
Thanks for the info! I'm in WI and commute on mostly back roads so I'm thinking a new set of tires for winter will be essential in the next month or two. I'll search around the forum for suggestions as to what tires to look for.
Probably should replace the 12V battery now, if it is original equipment. With such low usage the battery probably spent most of its life in a semi-discharged state, unless the prior owner used a battery charger or battery minder.
Thank you for the insight. Is there any way that I can check to see what condition the battery is in? I don't want to replace it unless it's needed but at the same time I'd like to make sure that it's in good condition. Thank you!
Check with multi meter after the car has sat over night and see if the charge is around 12.6 volts. If it is your OK. H
