    Well, we did it.
Visited our local small-town dealer Sunday afternoon, October 31.

Bought a silver III w/ nav, mats, applique. No financing, no trade-in.

$25297 (They claim this was their invoice price; I don't know who to believe) goes down to $24297 after the rebate.

    $86.75 for Vehicle Excise Tax.
    $2074.36 for all other taxes
$150 for Dealer Docs (maximum allowed in WA)

$26608.65 was the final, out the door, here are your keys, come on in if you have any questions price.

I have a feeling this is a decent price but not an OMG price.

I thought the nav package was cool. My wife didn't really want it. But then we learned that the back-up camera comes with the nav package and that made her rethink things. She's 4' 11". She would have had trouble spotting anything smaller than a moose behind the car w/out the camera.

Anyone care to guess what Toyota will be offering for post-Nov. 1 purchase incentives? I would assume that they (Toyota) will gather inventory data from their dealerships then decide what, if any, incentives they should offer in November. Our local salesmen claim to have no insights. Anyone out there have a crystal ball?

Hey there, picked up my red prius II with just mats, spider net, and bumper protector last Friday (10/29). For posterity my original post on this thread discussing offers and edmunds/truecar estimates is here.

    MSRP was $24,320
    Selling price $20,770
Out the door w/ tax and fees $22,362

I got lucky that this dealer matched the actual deal offered by another dealer rather than their price. Another dealer offered $2,500 off msrp, able to be bundled with Toyota's $1,000 factory rebate for $3,500 total. The dealer I purchased at had a less equipped Prius with a $500 lower msrp (no sat radio), so it wasn't exactly apples to apples. I wasn't able to go much lower than that. I think I waited too late to play my "I'm walking out" card since the deal they matched ended at the end of the month (the next day).

Unfortunately I got suckered into a discounted extended warranty (price not included above). I turned it down at first vaguely remembering I could get it here for cheaper. My fault I didn't remember the exact price Troy offers it here, or the details, so I agreed to a discounted warranty which I find out when I get back home to Prius Chat that I paid too much for too few miles and for a $100 deductible! I have 30 days to cancel, and I will.

Loving the car so far! :D
I really love the sensors on the door handle. I'm easily pleased.

From toyota.com, it looks like for the month of Nov, they have either 0% APR for 36 months OR $750 cash back.

Bought my IV on 8/15 through truecar. Discount was 2700 until today now about 1800 so market must have changed around here. Could be an increase to prep for some big sale in the near future. Lots of 30k plus cars on the lots. Can't see paying over 25k for a prius even though I love the car. There's a limit in my mind.

That looks like a pretty good price to me. We got a Winter Grey Prius III with NAV, floor and cargo mats, cargo net, first aid kit and the Homelink mirror for 24,899 plus taxes and fees in San Diego. From Truecar, it looks like the best deal in this area was 24,399, so I think we did ok for only spending time at the dealership either test-driving or doing the paperwork to pick up the car. We didn't go through any of the usual sites (AAA, Truecar, Costco etc.), but just asked for quotes via email. If I'd known about this site before we bought, we may have been able to do a little bit better, but given the hassle-free experience we had, I'm happy with what we paid.

The car itself is just wonderful. No complaints so far. Hoping it will act as a daily driver and the "family hauler" and so replace a Honda Civic and a Honda Odyssey!

RonRon--it sounds like you did your research and got a great deal! Good job and congratulations! I think waiting until the end of the month goes a long way towards getting a chunk of $ knocked off your car. Enjoy the heck out of your Prius! :)

    Congratulations on your new Prius!

I'm not too surprised that the 30K cars are still unsold. That's what I've been seeing in Pennsylvania. It'll be interesting to see how the dealerships manage to clear them out.

Grew up in Greensburg -- 30 miles from Pittsburgh. Undergrad at Temple but no time spent in the middle of the state. Thanks for the reply.

I'm looking to purchase a Prius II and have been quoted "factory invoice" by several local dealerships. Since I've read of "hidden" dealer incentives being provided by Toyota, I suspect that buying a 2010 Prius, at this time of the year, at factory invoice is not a particularly good deal (although the dealerships want consumers to think that they're getting a great deal). Does anyone have any idea of the monetary value of the current "hidden" factory-to-dealer incentives? Are we talking $200 per vehicle, $500 per vehicle, $1,000 per vehicle?

I don't see any significant changes on the 2011 model so i'm also looking into purchasing a Prius III with solar moonroof. Here in the northwest, the current incentive is 60 months 0% APR through Jan. 3, 2011. I'm going to hold off until January 3 and hopefully land a good bargain deal since the 2010 model would have depreciated in value as the new '11 models are coming up and dealers have to clear the lots. I've been checking the dealers inventory and it seems that there are still a lot of parked III, IV, & V in the dealer lots. What do you guys think? I hope this is a good strategy.

It depends on how much you want to spend and the model.
The Prius II will sold out first for its low price. Dealers will left with the high end models and your choice will be limited to those.
If you are looking for the lowest price Prius II base model, don't wait too long. That is what I did, paid 20488 for base model. Guess you are looking for the high end model, your are better off to hold off after Jan. 1st. 2011. IMO

I got my silver Prius II yesterday for 24200 out the door in Riverside Toyota. Longo might have given me a better price, but too bad I was too lazy to drive there.
