Knowing that "invoice" is a dealer joke/scam, can anyone tell me the actual dealership cost for a 2010 Prius package 3 with navigation? It seems as if the dealerships around Los Angeles are trying to make a profit of around $3,400.00 on this model.
That is simple, it's the smallest amount of profit that the dealer is willing to accept. If the customer knows what the car costs the dealer it can shorten the games the dealer plays with customers.
Dealers are trying to take a 20% commission which would be criminal in any other profession. Most car dealerships/car salespeople are trying to steal your watch and sell it right back to you. Just trying to even the playing field, knowing these are the caliber of people I'm dealing with. They do nothing to make the world a better place. They deserve the respect of no one.
I don't know actual dealer cost, but I purchased my 2010 Blizzard Pearl III w/Nav in July for $22,088, MSRP was $26,825. I'm sure they still made some profit, otherwise they'd have told me to take a hike and would of sold it to someone else. Actual Dealer cost is probably less than $22K, but I don't know how much below that...
I suggest you check Dianne Whitmire's inventory & posts. I and pretty much everybody who posts here have had a great experience with her and found her prices to be rock bottom. My belief is that as a fleet/Internet manager she is paid on volume rather than squeezing her customers.
OMG. The days of the below behavior are SO over. You are back in far different times in your mind! These things are not happening hardly anywhere. We don't have a single product with 20% markup in it -- and some cars have 5% max. Most Prius have 5-7% tops. And, the days of the grab your wallet and run are really quite minimal. Most of us realize that we need you to come back again and again - and bring friends. Not run away when you recognize us!! Dianne
i've never been bothered by any of the shenanigans dealers try to pull, except the time one tried to change the terms od a lease i had ALREADY signed. that almost came to blows. i shop around and make the best deal i can. there is nothing a dealer can say to make me pay more, the after sale service is all the same. it doesn't matter what they pay for the car, it's like any other purchase except the haggling.
