HI every body I've install Techstream program and after i run the program the program showing it can not connect to my device but it work with ScanTool , ScanXL and ScanMaster my link is ELM327
This really needs to be posted to the 'Tech' forum - not audio... Techstream software is designed to work with the Mongoose MFA (cost ~$350). It does not work to my knowledge with anything other....
I believe Techstream can be used with other interfaces, in its OBDII mode - which doesn't allow diagnostics, programming, etc.
Hello. What I know and saw is that Teachstream may use mongoose as say rrolff and also Tactrix open port 2 (less expensive then mongoose). Tactrix+Teachstream on gen III and on gen II Prius. Elm327 use ftdi drivers that give you a virtual com port. I believe that teachstream only accept pass-thru drivers. Also i think you buy a slow elm327. May be 9,6kb or 14,4kb. Prius can speed is 500kb. And Elm327 when it send a command to the odb stop immediatly listening. That's another problem. Teachstream send commands (pid sollicitated) Sorry.
I think Techstream needs J2534 PassThru windows driver for the full functionality. AFAIK there is no ELM based HW to support that. The generic OBDII interface can be working (maybe). To moderator/admin: pls move the thread to proper forum.
I see this is a old thread but I think this is the correct place to ask. What interface works with Techstream to write to the Prius? Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
I'm using Tactrix Open port. I see it was much cheaper when I purchased. The other option is Moongoose. Much more expensive.
Tactrix is able to reflash Subaru ECUs, but I didn't try for Prius, because: car is in the warranty period no need to reflash ECU mayself, yet I do not have a reliable source of alternative SW
Did you try to read the Prius? The alternative software will be developed from many owners trying different things until we as a group come up with useful changes that can be shared. That is how the Saturn Ion Redline software became available. Many different people tried changes and it took a couple years until some really good software was available then people shared files online. That software was designed to change many variables including increasing mpg's or going for more HP & TQ. I asked Ken in Japan if he has heard of custom files to flash and he said he has not heard of anyone that has tried reading & writing to the car. Do you know of a technical forum for the Prius? Maybe Prius Chat is not the correct forum to find people who have an interest in seeing what could be done with the software? Mike
If you mean to read data or make some setup changees via Techstream diagnostic SW, so YES. I didn't try to read ECUs SW and do some reverse engineering. I'm not aware about some better forum in english for Prius.
I dont know exactly, I saw some spanish guys at OBDII/Torque GenIII Prius Custom PIDs for Torque app | Page 5 | PriusChat and he mentioned/posted a link to Spain foro. BTW I googled some forum for you -> http://mitoyotaprius.mforos.com/, but no idea what is inside and how much technical.
That looks like a good forum Google Chrome translates it to English very nice I will do some reading this weekend and let you know if I found some good news on tuning the Prius. Thank you, Mike
They are talking about modifying the Prius software in a few threads. Looks like you found a very good technical Prius forum Mike
BTW, you can buy the TechStream software on eBay, which comes with a compatible interface, for less than $30. Saw it posted on the RAV4 forums, with many people reported success.
