Does anyone know what is the best wiper blades for a Prius? My factory windshield wiper blades on my 2006 Prius have started to leave a film on the windshield. I guess it's time to replace this worn out part. <grin>
I've been using RainX Wiper Blades on my 2006 Prius, they work great! Along with RainX in my wiper fluid dispenser. Affordable since Wally World carries them.
The Bosch Icon and RainX blades are very similar. The airfoil on the Icon is a little better. The RainX has kind of a kludge for the attachment so that it fits any arm. The Icon design is specific for the arm used by Toyota, so it looks more "finished".
The rear wiper blade is a different kettle of fish because it has a special attachement. Aside from the OEM from Toyota, NAPA carries a replacement, but it is one inch SHORTER than the Toyota blade (I was hoping for an inch longer).
I am also looking for replacement wiper blades. I was hoping to just replace the rubber and not the whole blade. So I guess the Bosch Icon and RainX are out of the question then. I don't want to spend a lot of money either, which is why I refuse to buy them from my local "Stealership". Has anyone found a good online source?
I've gotten the rubber only from MetroTPN http://www.metrotpn.com/ProductDetails.aspx?CollectionID=25&ProductID=194&SortIndex=25 , they have reasonable prices for them, as well as the oil/air filters, and just about everything else.
We currently are using PIAA's Super Silicone blades on our front windshield. I bought them from Amazon and we are loving them. My wife always comments how good they are at keeping the window clean. When we have some extra money I'm planning to buy the oversized rear wiper arm and blade from Sigma.
PIAA Super Silicone refills are the best I have tried. I have been using them since 2004. Amazon has the best price with free shipping (over $25). Driver Side - $8.49 Passenger Side - $6.37 Rear - $6.37
Just buy Toyota. Replace once a year anyway whether you spend $5 or $20. Clean windshield regularly with ammonia and a mild scratchy keeps film away. Dont let it touch the blades until dry. It's what pro detail guys do.
I did purchase the oversize rear wiper arm and it was very easy to install. When deciding where to position the new arm and blade, there is a small yellow dot towards the left upper corner of the rear window, which I believe was put there to aid in determining the window wiper position. This is what I used to determine my location and it is perfect. I think it is an improvement over the factory wiper arm.
I just put on a set of rainx wipers for the front, and for the back I bought an inexpensive anco wiper and took the rubber squeegee out of it. Then I took the original squeegee out of the rear wiper. I discarded the metal strips that came out of the new wiper and replaced them with the narrow ones from the original. Then I slid the new squeegee into the original wiper frame. The wiper works fine and the replacement was not expensive.
Consumer Reports rated the Valeo blades highly in a recent issue. If I'm not mistaken, I think they were rated highest. They aren't cheap, and ended up buying them on Amazon. The rear blade listed for the Prius there is one inch short but works. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CD8I5O/ref=oss_product http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000CDAEOM/ref=oss_product http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003BZKDAS/ref=oss_product
That is disappointing and would bother me. Does anyone other than Toyota have the correct rear bade size?
Don't buy a new rear refill. Just cut down the better of the two front refills that you just removed and use it to refresh the rear blade. JeffD
Okay so the wiper blade sizes are 25.5" & 17.5" on the front and 16" for the rear? I just want to replace the blades not the whole arm. I'm still unsure what to get.
Post #8 provided you with a reputable Toyota dealership source if you wish to replace just the rubber refills. The price there is $11 plus shipping for all three refills, which is hard to beat. If you wish to replace the metal blade along with the rubber then you can buy pretty much anything where the replacement blade length is around the same as original equipment.
"Stealership" prices are not a deal in my eyes, especially when you add in the shipping cost. Besides $11 is only for the front blades, add another $5 for the rear. And these are for the 2010 Prius. I need then for a 2006 and 2007 Prius.
