One thing that would be nice on newer models (ok, not the 2011 'cause it's too late, but maybe 2012) is if they made the side view mirrors (outside the car) auto dimming like the rear view one.

i have seen it on another type of car and LOVED it.

October 1st, ordered my 2011 Prius, for my next company car. Went to the dealer to check status. They don't know when the 2011's will be built (I was hoping it starts in November). While I was there, they offered $5,500 off on a 2010 (one with lots of options). I was hoping to swap my 2011 order for this one, but my company wouldn't allow it. Now I really have to wait several more months for my Prius, when I am ready, now!!

Actually, here in Nova Scotia I see more of the Gen III's on my travels, but I have seen a few of the older ones, but not as many. I've never owned a block heater, never needed one here, but I suppose in the cold winters of Detroit, Edmonton, Chicago, Winnipeg, those places you would need a block heater? I guess? What I would like to see is a remote start, something not available here in NS. My dealer tells me he should have the pricing of the 2011's in a week or so, he says it should be in the same ballpark as the 2010's.

Glad to hear someone thinks the BP is worth the extra $220, since I was debating whether to get it.....and I did, at least its on order. Its got a nice shine and glimmer to it.

okay, gotcha now, this is my first one ever, the pic in the avatar is what its going to look like......(hopefully).
I'm quite excited, countdown is on, 166 days and counting.

I keep reading everything I can on this site, its a GREAT wealth of information, so I'm hoping I'll really enjoy this car. It'll be a BIG difference from the 2007 Pontiac Torrent I'm driving now.:D

Almost makes you wonder if you should just wait for the 2012 "game changer" PHV as opposed to the 2011 (provided you can wait another year)???

But why not wait another year after that for whatever else is on the horizon, maybe an extra mileage Leaf or something :) IMO The Gen 3 prius is a real step above the competition. Getting a 2009 instead of waiting to buy a 2010 would have been a mistake, but unless you do get a PHV (and I don't know if in Canada there are likely to be tax rebates to assist its purchase) you might as well purchase now.

oh yeah, no doubt in my mind, it'll be a 2011. Once they shake out all the bugs from the 2012 PHV, that will be a contender down the road in a few years. For now, I'll enjoy the anticipation of waiting for my first ever BP Prius.
If what everyone in here says is true, I'll enjoy it immensely.

I'd say it's useful ANYWHERE in Canada. Remember.. if the engine is warm, it can shut down and that's where the benefit over regular cars is seen especially in the winter when they're running richer to keep warm. Blocking the grille also helps. While everyone else has increased fuel consumption, you're still holding on (til about -10 or so).

It's also more efficient than a remote starter. A warm engine will put heat into the cabin.

Well when the Germans charge $800 for their metallic paint (which is free on Toyota and Lexus models) and Mazda charges $102 for metallic paint, $220 for a 3-coat seems reasonable (about the same as Nissan Canada charges I think...)

No doubt.. technology never slows down... I just think if I decide to go for the Prius.. if my truck can hold out.. I'm gonna take the plunge on the 2012.. PHV..

Me, too, for $2000 even. It looks like he tried, though, but company said no. $5500 off simply to subtract a 1 from the model year is an epic win in every conceivable way.

In the UK we have partial numbers ... T-3, T-4 and T-Spirit ... which confusing apply to grades in other models in the Toyota range

But we do seem to have a more flexible approach to upgrades/options to the above grades - be they factory-fit or dealer-fit :)

Only 14 weeks to go before my BTO 2011 Prius T-Spirit gets delivered !!
