2008 Prius, bronze color. Many small pitted rust spot on finish. Any ideas? Anyone else have this problem. My dealer said it wasn't covered under warranty and was because of smog. My dodge truck which is older has no problems like this.
The prius paint is thin thin. Depending on how bad it is a detail shop may be all that is needed (clay bar removes rust pits). Other than that, take it to a autobody shop.
If the rust spot is due to a defect in the paint then it should be covered by the anticorrosion warranty. If it's due to stone damage, then it wouldn't be. However, the onus should be on the dealer to prove it's not a defect, rather than on you to prove it is.
