Hi there, I've recently purchased a 2005 Prius and it will be ready for pick up in a couple of days. I'm just wondering if anyone purchased the extended warranty service (6yrs) that ranges for around $1600.00 canadian. Do you think it's worth purchasing? I know Toyota models are extremely reliable but since I recently heard about the recall, I'm not having second thoughts. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would check into getting it here for less money. Since you're in Canada, you'll have to be sure that what's offered here works for you, but if you look to your left at "Prius Chat Offers", you'll see that one of the choices is "Discounted Toyota Prius Extended Warranty Service Contracts". -Roger
You can get the same service right here for $985. I told the dealer no and saved a boat load. You just need to purchase the extended before the manufacture warranty ends. Link
I forgot to mention, yes I do think that it's worth if for the discounted price. My attitude was there's a certain amount of new technology in the car that's fairly expensive to replace out of warranty. And it also extends the warranty on your hybrid components and battery. One never knows if one will need it, but if you do, I feel it's worth it. -Roger
Thank you both for your reply. I'm going to email them here to make sure that this discounted price is in Canadian dollars and that it covers Prius' bought in Canada. Glad to be part of this chat line. It's crazy how much information is here. Nice to see you all look out for eachother and give good advice! Take care.
