Hi!
Maybe you already talk in an another thread about this stereo. If yes, give me the link. Does some persons have bought from autodvdgps.com?? Toyota Prius DVD GPS Navigation - Toyota Prius HD Touchscreen Monitor - Toyota Prius Indash Stereo

Do you know if this radio is a great value?? It's chinese... sometime chinese products is kinda like "scrap". Did some persons here try this radio?

I'm also thinking about the big x of Alpine if it possible. Or an integration of the Ipad in the car...!

Thanks you!

Nice find - I've had (2) of them from Qualir.

This seems to be a newer version (WinCE 6 etc).

At 1/2 the price of the other Chinese thing (see Flyaudio etc), it's not a bad deal...

The nice thing about these is they literally 'plug and play'. Meaning no splicing of cables, just plug it into existing plugs behind the radio...

Other pros:
Ability to run any GPS software (iGo, Garmin etc)
WinCE functions (may even allow for a WiFi driver, and a WiFi USB stick - then you could run Internet into it from your phone)
Steering controls built in
Simple install (I could put it in in less than 4 minutes - tops)
Generally good BT functionality (calls)

On the negative side:
Support - it comes from China - and support sucks)
Support - if it breaks, or has an issue out the box, it has to go back to China (~$50 each time each way)
Support - little/no documentation
Sometimes clunky interfaces
No Sat radio support
No HD radio support

Sound is generally pretty good. Little in the way of EQ.

If I was doing it today, I may consider that one (I now run a Pioneer Z120 w/XM)

Qualir_Aftersale said:(20:29:36)yes it is
You said:(20:30:08)ok thank you for all the information! I will check that and maybe pass an order!

So after the discussion:
- a smartphone is not working with the radio
- The map for the GPS is a pirate map... I can't upgrade it...

So i'm thinking if it's a good choice. But, i think i can customize a lot the system and it's seem easy to fix the stereo.

Not really sure about iPhone - I think this was fixed (maybe he is incorrect). For Android (or really iPhone), you can stream via BT.

based on my personal experience with autoddvgps.com. I purchased Toyota universal with wince 6.0 (the same user iface as displayed for your unit). Your unit looks to be an universal Toyota bundled together with Prius 2010 trim.
Don't worry about their service. You have to deal with their time zone, but they try to reply ASAP.
I purchased the backup camera as well, which became to be foggy after 1 month in operation. They replaced the camera (after a couple of emails, of course). I sent them USD5 as a contribution to the S&H fee - not bad. The delivery was in 5 days, fully trackable.
I'm not an iPod fan, so I could not tell you more about apple interface.
The FM radio sux, it is worse then current Toyota OEM.
Video, audio playback is fine and and good quality, I'm not a HiFi man in the car.
MP3 payer from SD can be better - no folders to display, everything is in the root folder.
I upgraded supplied iGO with the newest version - no problems with maps at all.
TomTom is working as well, but currently there is no up-to-date WinCE official version from TT. company.
The GPS HW chip is wonderful - it gets GPS fix in a second.

I would just add that I believe there is a version issue between the "world" and the US - regarding to FM. I sent my unit back (it had as good, maybe subjectively better reception than stock), and it came back with spot on FM reception (close to my current high-end Pioneer).

I'd guess there is a hardware (firmware?) mod to settle this - as they have similar frequencies.

I never reported this - but one other negative was when you were in the 'heart' of LA, the AM reception started to overlap - meaning sometimes a major channel (640AM) would get cross-talk from an adjoining (guessing) channel. It was acceptable - but not perfect.

If you or anyone has an issue with FM, I'd suggest getting it back to China to be fixed. My return came back over 9++ months ago, and came back with good spot on FM coverage.

I'd say the same to anyone else with the "Rosen" / "CoAgent" / FlyAudio units. You *should* have great FM. If you don't there is an issue with your HU.

Toyota is finally swapping their units - you should (especially as a guinea-pig) want more.

Send it back, get good FM....

Rolf, thx for your advice.
My hope to get a better FM was a side effect of my other needs (DVD video, backup camera and GPS mostly). All these functions are okay. The local FM is so-so good and when I travel a long distance where the good RDS is important I play MP3s, CDs....
BTW: the postal price to China from CZ with tracking option (it is a must) is quite high.

After seeing these posts I sent off some questions to autodvdgps the Prius Model QL-PRS982 referenced above.

Summary of their answers

• Does not support the JBL interface
• It can't use the built in mic installed on Prius III, IV, and V but can support an external mic.
• It supports IPhone 3 but not IPhone 4.
• It does not support the Android phone Samsung Intercept
• They said this unit is good unit with steering wheel control supported. I was asking about the phone answer buttons on the steering wheel so I assume it will
So yet another case where buying a Prius III is making things difficult. Even the simple plug and play on the Chinese units get complicated on a package III.

Interesting reply, as I bought a unit from autodvdgps and it works fine with the JBL fit in my Prius T4 (a UK model). I needed to add a wire to turn the under seat amp on, but that was really just a five minute mod.

I believe others have fitted these with US JBL equipped cars OK, by using an interface that turns the amp on. Whether that interface is anything cleverer than the added wire mod that a few of us here in Europe have done I don;'t know. I guess using the interface does make the whole thing an easier fit though, literally just plugging compatible connectors together (the wire mod means adding a pin to one of the connectors).

The combined unit looks to be from roadrover.cn supply chain, so the same as I have.
There is a pin for switching external amplifier on (my Prius has the Fijitsu-Siemens amp, not JBL).
The OEM MIC cannot be used as it is amplified one and the HU supports just a passive MIC, but the external passive MIC can be routed to the mirror area easily through A pllar.
SW audio control is supported, but phone buttons are not - you have to operate the HU's touchscreen.
