Hello everyone, Due to a minor accident I need to replace the passenger side mirror of my prius. I can find online OEM mirrors for less than $55. However, in my country the part itself cost $470 (excluding installation)! The problem - my car mirror part number is 87910-47112, while online I can find only 87910-47101 (heated) or 87910-47250 (non-heated). My mirror isn't heated, so I thought that the 47250 may work. Does anyone know if these parts are interchangeable? Can I install any of the two american parts in my prius? Thanks
Does your mirror have power fold? European variant parts are neither heated nor power-folding. Might that explain the cost difference?
Thanks for this comment. My mirror has a manual folding and it doesn't have heating. In any case the price difference is in the opposite way, the american version (even with heating) is a lot cheaper than the European.
That approach would work in the US. I'm going to be in the US soon so I'll be able to bring it here myslef, but shipping it back is going to cost me around $35, so there is almost no point in returning it. If there is no way to get an answer, I may order it anyway, but I prefer to check first. Does anyone has experience with such discrepancies with other parts maybe?
I don't have experience with this, but I am wondering whether there is something unusual about your mirror? For example, does it have a light in the housing that serves as a side marker light? One possibility is that if you find the new mirror varies from the original sufficiently so that it is noticeable to you, then buy & install yet another new mirror for the other side of the car. That will restore the symmetrical appearance.
My mirror is not special in any way - it is the standard European version mirror. Even if they are don't identical, I don't mind. My main fear is that the american version may not fit due to differences in the bolts (metric vs imperial) and I won't be able to connect it.
It must bolt on thru the same bolt holes I would think. Some countries have the marker light built in. Have you looked at pictures of a American Prius and one from your Country? If I was you I would look for a used one while your in the States and take it home with you. It is a small mirror.I believe most if not all Prius's are made in Japan other than 2010 version, so I think they would be metric fasteners? H
Thanks, I guess I'll take my chances, although I'm still worried about the difference in the part number, if it is the same, then why there is another part number?
I'm more concerned about the size and type of mirror. In the US, our driver's side mirror is flat and the passenger side is convex. Some countries have convex mirrors on both sides. Also, with the Gen 2, I thought that the JP and NA mirror housing were of different size. It may be the same case for the Gen 3.
