Hi guys, Can anyone give me detailed instructions to remove the RH tail light from the '06 Prius? I reviewed the '07 Prius tail light removal discussion (http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...423-2007-tail-light-removal-instructions.html) but I'm stuck at the step where I need to remove the long bolt. What should I do now? I would appreciate any help you could provide. Thanks.
Remove the bolt from the deep recessed hole shown in the picture. User the socket with the extension.
10mm 2" long socket and wrench plus 3" extension I bought that tool at Home Depot and its too big to fit in the hole. Does anyone know the correct sized tool for the '06 Prius?
It sounds like you are trying to remove the hatch trim, and you have found that the socket's exterior diameter is too large to fit the hole? In that case, measure the diameter of the hole, and look for a thin-wall 10 mm socket that will fit within. I usually buy my tools at Sears and own a set of long Craftsman metric sockets purchased there. No problem when I removed the hatch trim on my 2004 when replacing the rear shocks.
Are we talking about this? IIRC I used a 10 mm socket with a multi-function screw driver that came with a hex to square adapter. IIRC the bolt wasn't very tight so no wrench needed and we don't want to tighten it too much to stress the plastic. Good luck!
