Last Thursday I went down to Toyota of Huntington and checked out the 2010 Prius IV. I was so impressed I traded in my 2009 Civic Hybrid. I got a 2010 Prius IV. Black with Grey Leather Interior, Nav, Solar Roof, Moonroof. It was a no-brainer, really. My Civic Hybrid was rated at 50MPG. I was getting 33MPG. My new Prius is rated at 50MPG. I'm getting more like 60MPG. My Civic Hybrid's batteries and electric motor were located between the back seat and the trunk, consuming most of the trunk space and making it the only civic I've ever seen without a fold down rear seat. My Prius has plentiful trunk space and a fold down rear seat. making it the most spacious car I've ever owned. I'm SOOOOO happy right now. I picked up my car on Friday. I drove it all weekend and then on my way back filled up on cheap New Jersey gas. I drove 120 miles since that fillup and my gas gauge has only decreased by 1 notch. I can't wait to see what kind of mileage I'm getting after the break-in period!!
Yeah, It's the first car that I have had that gets more gas mileage than It said on the window sticker!! Great car, you will be more than happy with it!
Welcome aboard! Yeah, my neighbor wanted a Prius but ended up with a HCH during C4C. He is not a very happy camper but unwilling to take the loss of trading/selling it now.
Hve 2500 miles on my IV and have never been happier with buying a car. Roomy, smooth, quick, and great mpg. Wondered why there was no beep if you left the headlights on. Seemed odd until I saw them automatically shut off. Couldn't find any reference to that feature in the manual. Also love the way the headrests fold forward to facilitate dropping the seatbacks.
Congratulations and welcome to the world of Prius! :welcome: I too purchased mine at Huntington Toyota, in May. 7800 miles later and I'm in love! Only thing is I wish, like you, I'd gone for the IV. I didn't want to spring for the extra $2000. Who knew I'd love the car this much? The Boss (you know who I mean!) laughs and laughs and says the same thing: who knew? There's a V in my future, I can feel it!
Okay, I'll open the can of worms... How were you averaging 33 mpg on a less than 2 year old Civic Hybrid? My Honda Fit is averaging around 31 mpg. Seriously? Congratulations on your IMO HSD upgrade....but do you think that was the reality for The HCH or did you have a problem somewhere?
Welcome, indeed! Have fun (but on "Joisey" highways? Really?! Just teasing; I am often in CT/NY/NJ and always plan for fillerup by one of those courteus gas attendants...). Try coming north and cruising around MA/VT/NH/ME back roads -- come now and join all the leaf peepers!~PF

congratulations on the new Prius! Have had my 2010 Prius III with sun roof option over the IV, since end of May. Only have 2K but extremely happy with the decision. I also am getting much better mileage than expected (54MPG and rising)!
