Hi everyone, it's been a while since I was here. If I have posted this in the wrong section, please admonish me gently. I did not cross-post this, since I've gotten admonished (sometimes not so gently) on other online forums where I wasn't 100% sure where a question should go and thus cross-posted it. It took me almost 2 1/2 years to finally use the GPS on my 2008 Package 5 Prius. I lived so many years without it that even though I bought a more expensive Prius to get it, I still didn't try it out in the whole period from Feb. 23, 2008, through August 1, 2010! But now I am using it. It's my understanding that I can get a DVD to update the software. Is this true? Some of the stores and restaurants listed are long gone. Is it true that this costs $300 or maybe even more? Is it true that the only way to buy it is to bid on it in an auction web site? I don't do auctions, and in fact, I mainly do brick-and-mortar stores. Please spell out any non-intuitive abbreviations in any responses. I know what DVD and GPS are, but I may not know what you might think is a common abbreviation. Thanks in advance (a phrase I always spell out).
Bumping this up to see if anyone has any idea where I should post this instead of or in addition to this topic. If bumping is frowned upon here, please admonish me gently. Thanks.
There are some threads about this in the Gen II Audio and Electronics forum: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...-nav-dvd-my-2006-gen-5-nav-6.html#post1188671 http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-prius-audio-electronics/11598-navigation-getting-dvd-update.html
How about 20 years out of date. You buy a new one and its way out. Money grab by all GPS company's, I'm afraid. H
