Discussion on replacement speakers here refers to the size as 6.5" yet on Crutchfield.com the Gen II Prius is listed as requiring a 5.25 set. Can anyone explain if either will work? Many thanks Lex
Here's a speaker replacement guide I found using the search. It sates that 6.5" were used using adaptors which were included with his speaker purchase. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...5-prius-speaker-replacement-guide-sparky.html
Thanks, that's the infamous Sparky Guide I'd come across as well, in which the 6.5" speakers are used. I'm curious to know whether anyone on the forum has used the smaller 5.25" speakers?? Thanks!
i wouldnt use a 5.25 speaker, it lacks the midbass that a 6.5 can deliver & is much needed in the prius.
Although 5.25" speakers generally have better sounding vocals... I'd still get the 6.5"s or a set of 7"s. 7"s will fit easily using a custom wooden mounting ring.
Hi Lex, I've used 6.5" on front for my 2009, not problems. I built my own wooden supports but there are several adapters out there. Check Scoche website for more.
I don't know about the 2003, you'd have to take the door panels off and run the windows down to see how much room you have. there are shallow mount 8"s that might fit, and with a spacer ring it's been done w/ the gen2. I had 7" woofers from parts express that fit nicely in the rear doors of my '04, but they wouldn't fit the front doors cause the window was too close. they hit pretty hard; with a kenwood ddx417 it sounded better than the JBL system in my 06.
