bought July 7 w/ 4550 on odo today. Cause: 1) gas mileage makes it seem like having free gas.(22mpg old car) 2) It's such a pleasure to drive.

I'm thrilled, I bought my Prius III on July 27th, (Cash for Clunker'd my 2004 Jeep Liberty with 260,000 Miles)... today, 9-16-09, I have 8236 miles on it... on my one month aniversary, I had 5400 miles on it, it cost 265.00 in gas, 55.00 for my oil change and tire rotation. The money I saved on gas driving the prius rather then the Jeep, which would have been 800.00) made the payment on the car and paid for the maintenance... It's like having a sporty, fun car free...

I live in SE MA and travel to Boston daily and to northern NH every weekend... Prius was the best decision I've ever made, and all while having my mid-life crisis...

2 weeks and 1300 miles. On par for 30k for my first year. I bought the car to drive it, so I don't feel so bad. Only 3 fillups versus the 5 with my previous car over the same time period. That's the number I'm looking at.

I love driving, ever since I was a young kid. I don't mind driving 30 miles to see something special, like a tool store, hobby store, special toy store etc. Now that I am older and having to pay for gas myself, I've been inhibited somewhat. With the Prius, I'll just let myself go.

3 weeks, 1500 miles. In the shop for 10 days. :( hit and run (I'm the victim).

When I get the car back, I'll drive all over the place again.

I don't know about you, it is like getting rolling back the clock for me. I drive everywhere and don't worry about mileage or anything. In the big scheme of things, what's 40 mpg vs. 50 mpg.

Personally, I think a well worn car that has been nicely taken car of, is more beautiful than a brand new car.

I have 4,450 miles on my Prius since late July. Most of those miles are city miles. The first oil change is coming up soon. Driving is what it's for.

I bought my prius V on November 28th and as of today about 5 weeks later I have 5600 miles on it. I traded in my 2009 escalade because I couldnt afford to drive it anymore. I love this car and would never get rid of it.

I would feel much worse if I was not putting too many miles in my Prius... already has 15K on it! This way I can at least justify it financially...

I got my Pruis 12/11/2009, and I will officially have the engine "broken in" today...I will pass 1,500 miles. I was supposed to take it in for service at 1,000 miles, but they set it up for next week, and told me not to worry about it, just bring it in with whatever the miles were at the time. I'm looking forward to using the cruise control. They told me not to use it until I hit 1,500 miles. I like driving it. Long trips seem not as long. Seems to be the general consensus. I hear Prius was rated number one in new car owner satisfaction. I think alot of people here would agree, including me. I traded a Mercedes for mine.

Wow up 'til now I felt really guilty for putting so many miles on my new Prius but after reading all this I guess it's not as rare as I thought! I bought mine on Aug 29, 2009 and I already have 9,300 miles. I did take a road trip out to AZ and put about 1,000 miles on the car, but my 85-mile round trip commute doesn't help, either. Still, the whole reason I bought the car was for the gas mileage and my commute, and so far the car has definitely lowered my monthly gas expenses by about $100 a month despite how much I drive it.

This car is made to be driven comfortably and economically, so just drive it. I make it my daily, and let's my 1998 Acura Integra take some rest with its 165K miles. I should make the Acura my project car when I got some $$$.

I got my Prius near the end of August and now have nearly 13000 pleasant miles, and 1 not so pleasant mile on it. I really enjoy the car and expect to drive nearly 30,000 miles this first year with it.

I picked up my Prius the beginning of Jul 09. It has 14,204 miles on it now. I will get over 300,000 miles on this car.

My previous car was a 2000 Toyota 4Runner that I still have with 305,000 miles. I pulled over and took this pic at 300,000 miles.

I feel bad for all the people that waste their money on extended service contracts. Over time they will learn that Toyota do not break they just keep running.

It really is a question of getting the right tool for the right job and for those who drive more than 15,000 miles per year, the Prius is the right tool. Now if you drive fewer miles, other cars and vehicles that match other requirements may make more sense. Even if you have a rare requirement for something else, consider rental or the 'other' requirements and use the Prius for what makes sense.

Agree, it's the right car for the job. I'm usually hesitant to pile up mileage on a new car, especially when I have other choices, but the Prius is a compelling reason to drive it a lot. Motor's on less than half the time, brakes get very little use. Only thing that wears normally is tires, body, and controls. Why not drive it?
Plus every necessary mile driven is (fuel) money-in-the-bank.
