I'm going to look at a Prius tomorrow.. i've recently become obsessed and i am pretty sure i want to buy one! I haven't actually seen one yet in real life!! but have done a lot of research online the last couple of days. I live in Ireland. just wondering if there are any Prius owners here in Ireland on this board? i'm thinking of the brand new option.. Toyota just announced a great offer, 3 years free servicing for all new cars registered before end of November!! i like that! i currently drive a 2001 VW Passat, i've had nothing but trouble with it.... please tell me I'll have some luck and trouble free motoring if i go for a new Prius?!
Welcome to the group. Sorry I am not from Ireland but I am sure there are many Prius owners who can answer your questions even from other countries.
I actually think all European Prius have the same options, different from US options. PriusChat Forums - View Profile: Jasonb13 lives in Ireland so does PriusChat Forums - View Profile: MJFrog
thanks guys.. well so far no luck. I'm very disappointed in the Toyota dealer closest to me... so much so i may report them to Toyota head office.. I guess i should have rang first, but i didn't see any reason why a large Toyota dealer wouldn't have a Prius in stock... yet, they didn't have ANY at all.. not only that i was told to buy an Avensis instead.. The 'salesman' was quite rude and told me all the prices and info on the toyota.ie website were wrong, he had never heard of the offers published on the website, never heard of the Toyota finance deals and options, and was generally completely uninformed about the Prius generally. I stated i wanted the USB audio pack, so he said get the the Luxury pack, which i later investigated and that doesn't even include the USB iPhone/iPod connection! I was told: there's a woman works here weekday afternoons and she has a 2007 Prius, if you come back during the week you can have a look at that... wonderful.. i wanted to test drive a 2010 Prius and the only option they can give me is someones 3 year old car !!! Toyota.ie states quite clearly that there is a 2500 euro 'bonus' discount.. this was unheard of at the dealer. i'm not giving up yet, but i will certainly not be doing business at this particular dealer. if i'm going to spend 27000 euro i want some decent service and help and not to be patronised by the 'culchie' salesman. I am really quite annoyed. I had hoped for a test drive yesterday but all i got was bull and angry. I fail to see how a Prius can be compared with an Avensis.. I stated i wanted the fuel efficiency and low road tax rate of the Prius and the fool told me that the Avensis would do me fine..... I plan on calling and visiting some dealers in the Dublin area, as I hope they will be more clued up on the Prius. but this is not a good start, and now i have to drive clear across the other side of the country to even have a test drive. I don't blame Toyota, this is an Irish problem... however if i wasn't so determined I certainly would have given up after yesterdays offensive dealer experience and gone elsewhere. if anyone can recommend a good Toyota dealer in Ireland where they will actually have a demo 2010 Prius i would be very interested to know the name and location! regards Adam
It might be wise to start a thread that actually has Ireland in the title. "Prospective buyer in Ireland wants a Prius friendly dealer" perhaps.
How frustrating that must be! One bad dealer will ruin the experience. If the next closest dealer is on the other side of your country, what are you going to do for service? Perhaps this "bad" dealers service department is good, who knows but that would leave a bad taste in my mouth too! Good luck to you and please keep us posted. Craig
Sorry to hear about the trouble you're having sourcing a Prius. There's a Dublin cabbie on here from time to time called Halpos4. He might be your best bet for Irish advice on the Prius and experience on good dealers. I wouldn't be too down hearted with your experiences so far. The Prius is a great car and certainly worth further investigation. For the record, not all dealers are like the one you went to - I went to look at the Avensis and it was the dealers who pointed out the Prius.
