Just got my new 2010 II. Want to add a Bluetooth Speakerphone. Would appreciate any opinions from those who have either a Motorola Motorokr T505 Bluetooth Speakerphone or a Parrot Minikit Slim Bluetooth Speakerphone. Seem the big difference is that the Motorola can stream music from any mp3 player. Parrott cannot. Confused about whether the Parrott can send the signal through the car's audio speakers. Seems that the Motorola can do that. Any advice would be welcome. And -- just for the record -- I don't have what it takes to install a kit. Just need a good plug-and-play solution. Thanks!
I would keep an eye on whatever goes on sale at Walmart or Best Buy. Sometimes you can get them for half price. I have no experience with Parrot bluetooth but all of the Motorola's work pretty well. I find that any feature that puts the sound over the radio speakers is useless for me because I wouldn't want to go to the trouble of figuring out how to mute the regular programming. I used to use the bluetooth on my Garmin Nuvi but it just was kind of quirky. I use it on rental cars when I travel and I have a T305 which I bought when I couldn't find my T505 and I had a trip coming up. They both are fine. Not as good as the IHF 1000 that I have in my T-Bird, but they both work as advertised. If I program them to go to a particular frequency, (I think the 505 does that) then I have to switch to that frequency when a call comes in, don't I. Too much trouble. It is easier to just turn off the radio and use the internal speaker in the bluetooth speakerphone.
Just walked into Radio Shack for a completely different reason and found the Parrot Slim on clearance for $39.99. Will try it and if I don't like it, I'll take it back and get the Motorola.
You don't need to mute the regular programming while using the FM transmitter. It is all done automatically since it's all coming from your phone. You can't use the AM/FM radio or CD at the same time the T505 is using your car speakers.
I've used a couple Motorolas and they were quite nice, the T505 being the best of the two. The other is a T325 which is nice as it has an auto on-off feature, but the quality of the 505 is better.
I thought that was what I said. When you are using the FM transmitter you have to stop using the radio or CD player. Too much trouble for me.
