I just updated my iPhone to 4.1. I was really excited because the iPhone says that with this update it will have the ability to support the next and back buttons for bluetooth audio. So I tried it in the prius and...nothing. Same thing as before just play and pause. Am I missing something? Jason
Now if that's true then it's really a bummer! I have 4.0.1 and I was really waiting for this AVRCP thing from 4.1! If this does not work on Prius 2010 then that's not good! I have 4.0.1 and jailbroken and did not update cause I did not want to lose my jailbreak but really wanted to user AVRCP!
Ok..I got it working. No new buttons show up but the "real" buttons and the ones on the steering wheel work.
Cool! That's how it works actually! Those soft-buttons on the nav screen do not become enabled. I have already used AVRCP with iPhone 4 and Prius. There is a jailbreak app called MusicControls and that enables iPhone 4 AVRCP. It has 5 days trial and I have tried it. It works well. Only steering wheel next, previous buttons work.
So play, pause skip forward and skip back is all the functionality iOS 4.1 supports. However, does the Prius support any further AVRCP functions? For instance, if Apple enabled text display of track info over bluetooth, would the Prius nav radio be of capable using that function? The compatibility has to be on both sides.
