Hey guys, I have took some time after my shop closes to install an aftermarket Kenwood Navigation headunit. everything out! New Dash kit old radio new kenwood and my car Kenwood steering wheel controls.... enabled! the new look! sitting flush in the dash.
i would have to go back to my shop to check on the exact prices, everything that i've put in it, and i'll calculate the time i've spent. so together i'll do an estimate on how much a local shop would charge for a job like this. also, since you guys are on priuschat, and i like you guys, i'll throw in a 10% discount on labor if you install it in my shop
looks great, i have it in my EVo 2008 but i sold it with the car, just couldnt bother to pay to take it out, plus they gave me more money for the radio.... but yes its worth it a lot compare to the OEM one
Did you see the info usbseawolf2000 posted back in the winter ? He might have a similar unit. I think he stopped posting on his install but there were some details and a few pics. He was doing the work himself.
actually installing a HU into this car was easier than the previous generation Prius. on the last gen prius, it took me a longer time to take out the panels.
I installed DNX6960 in my 2006 Prius also with Scoche kit for Gen2. The unit is great with iPhone 4. I couldn't ask more from Garmin Navigation with frequent map updates. The sound quality is very good and I love playing music videos on DVD. The link is in my signature.
to going greener i used to have the same kenwood navi on my rav4, which i've traded in for this beauty gen 3. i have a great bond with kenwoods, and besides, i am also carry kenwoods at my shop. other than kenwood, i also carry pioneer, rockford fosgate, clarion, sony, soundstream, jl audio, and other brands which i can special order. i like this brand because its the best bang for the buck. i will do some research on flyaudio, and test out the product. thanks for the suggestion! My shop can install back up cameras, and can be wired to the head unit or a specially ordered rear view mirror.
Thanks tandy22. Yeah, I'm curious about the costs and comparisons (features & reliability). It would be great to add a great looking, solid & versitile unit to the car!
tandy22 so did it have a nav unit before u installed this?? was it difficult becuz i really need a touchscreen for my prius 2... no screen just buttons and more buttons!!
