i am new to this forum. i am thinking of buying Prius due to its gas mileage advantage. the 2010 prius has 48/51 mpg. my question is, what about the prius 2011. - will 2011 has better mpg than 2010 ? - will 2011 be plugin ? - when 2011 model coming to market for sale ? - what is the expected price of 2011 model ? - is there any noticable technological update in 2011 model ? Please help.

To sum up the link Ken provided the only changes in MY11 are different colors and the labeling system is changing from Roman Numerals to "regular" numbers, IV vs. Four.
my top area of interest is ...gas mileage, plugin and price. so does it mean 2011 prius ... will have same mpg as 2010 model (no improvement) will not be a plugin will it be expensive. Thanks
when the 2011's come out, you will be able to get a better price on a 10 if you can find one you like. no plug in until late 12 or 13. 11 will get same mpg as 10. plug in will be quite a bit more expensive and only give you about 50% more mpg's depending on the price of electricity in your area.
ok Thats not good. what if i buy a cheap 2010 Prius and add the extended battery pack with plugin from "Engineer". does it really make a better MPG improvement or its just waste of money to add extended battery ?
What sort of driving will you do? The plug-in gives you good mileage for the limited range of the battery, after which the mileage is pretty much the same as any Prius. If you have a short drive to work it might make sense. Then again, if you have a short drive, you might want to consider a true EV. Tom
i drive average total around 60 miles a day. any idea if the prius 2010 is full of gas and full of charge (its own battery + engineer 4kwh battery), how much total avg mileage one will get ?
if you're looking for best mpg per dollars spent, get a 2010 for the best deal you can find. you're gonna have to keep it awhile to get payback over a corolla or camry and the plug ins will never pay off unless gas prices rise. if you just want best mpg's there are a number of kits out there. search the threads, search the skies if you if you must!
Payback will depend on your annual mileage. I drive 30,000 Miles a year and save about $1000 a year over a 33 MPG car. A taxi would save more, if it was 'driven once a week to go to church by a little old lady' it would never achieve payback. Payback on a plugin also depends on ow long each individual trip is.
i don't know if there is a specific answer to your question. there are a lot of variables. you should jump into the engineer forum and see what opinions the users have. it will be interesting to see how the epa rates the pug in prius and the experiences the buyers have!
