I owned a Rolls Royce and had my chauffeur drive me around on demand 24/7. I had a little fridge with any kind of drinks I wanted. I even had whatever kind of companions with me as I wished (if you know what I mean, wink.)

Now I've fallen under hard times my chauffeur fired me and my Rolls was re-pocessioned. I had to suffer a huge down-grade to a so called "top of the line" Audi. Oh, what a horrible piece of junk it is. No fridge, no chauffeur, no companion, no class! And the smell, uugghh. I feel like I'm dying in this cheapo Audi any time soon.

Oops, sorry! I thought this is the Audi chat forum.

I doubt that your Audi misses you.

the steering wheel has a textured surface so your hands don't slip when their sweaty or wet.

if you feel a shake in the steering wheel get your tires rebalanced.

you can always add sound insulation, springs, and better tires.

if none of the above works......hand in your "Prius card"

We . have now driven our Prius II 6600 miles and love it. My wife, daughter and I took a 3300 trip from Kansas city, MO (KCMO) to NYC, DC, Chapel Hill (NC) and home. The luggage was tight (my wife and daughter like to have lots of stuff) but none was on the seats or floors. Seats were comfortable as was the ride. NO complaints. I have driven a Lincoln Towncar for last 6 years, which had more space, but not much more comfortable. If the Lincoln was a 747 airplane, my Prius is more like a fighter jet. Also, anyone wanting real power, simply puts the Prius in the Power Mode and it takes off like a jet. Of course if you have it in Cruise Control, that will retard the response. But I have kicked it (once) from 65 to over 100 mph in nothing flat to test it out. If you know how to drive, this thing can do most anything. That said, the short, narrow wheel base does make it dangerous to swerve back and forth (as in an emergency avoidance manuver) at speeds above 60mph. As to mileage, I got 57 mpg in one 450 mile segment, travelling a mix of city and highway, but not exceeding 65 mph, and usually around 55 mph. On our 3300 mile trip, usually travelling between 75 and 85 mph, we still averaged 46.4 mpg. Over our total 6600 miles, we have averaged 48.5 mpg. To close, the guy who is complaining must be pretty large or does not know how to use what the car offers.

Yeah NO 1 drives the speed limit at the i5 except for big rigs and trucks at the slow lane. There were some annoying trucks slowing down the fast lane but they move to the slow lane once ur behind them. I was driving 80-90 most of the trip (when no traffic).. I drove from 11pm (Starting point-northridge 405n) to 3:30 am-I reached sacramento. And from Sacramento to SF i drove an hour and a half (approx) i'm not sure. I drove slower from sac to sf tho. But I'm sure of reaching sac at about 3 30. But u have to take account traffic, and gas stops which was a couple times.

If your prius is a fighter jet. My audi was a presidential Air force one. You barely feel the harshness of the road. it rides so smooth and quiet and you feel like you are in an airport runway when your driving fast... It's that good .. test drive an audi. I know its my first choice for my next car.

If your car is unsafe or you 'feel the miles', then there is something wrong. I've posted here previously that I had to get a four wheel alignment for mine after 10K miles and now it is whisper quiet, gets even better gas mileage, AND is stable as a 3000 lb car ought be to at any speed. Long distance drives are easier in this car than any car I've ever had, thanks to the interesting technology, the challenge of getting better mpg, the quiet cabin, and things like bluetooth, USB, and Nav.

And if you've discovered that it is underpowered for your taste, why didn't you test drive it before you bought?

A friend of mine says that once you drive a Prius, you can never drive anything else. I feel the same way after 13,000 miles on mine. My only complaint related to yours: it never had the new car smell!!

The challenge of getting better mpg is just comical to me. I am quite happy with 42 mpg that im getting for the Prius. (I might be getting less mpg, but its what the system says) I can't imagine how slow people are going if they get 57 mpg for the Prius. I'll drive slow when i'm a grandma or a grandpa. when I get blurred vision or a toupee that will fall off if i go faster than 30 mph.

Glad to hear that you are satisfied with something about your Prius, but 42 mpg represents some pretty bad driving technique. I dirve 9 mph over the speed limit routinely, and get 55-ish. Some people just aren't sophisticated enough to drive a Prius, as others have noted in this thread.

My wife drives the Prius and I drive an Audi unless we go out together and sometimes we take the Prius and sometimes the Audi - I drive when we are together. The cars are apples and oranges. My Audi TDI is a torque monster - it's a fabulous driver.

However, I appreciate the Prius for it's own qualities. End of story.

Definitely not a piece of junk as you say. 2010 drives like a solid, well-built car.

2010 Prius can easily cruise at 60,70, 80 mph while feeling solid.

    I don't notice a nasty smell.

My biggest gripes with the 2010 are the door armrests at least an inch too low, steering wheel telescopic range scant, interior design is too different for me. I like a more conventional, but sporty layout.

I like Toyota's reliability and customer service, but I lean more towards Honda's sporty sense of style. But Honda is struggling with their formats - Crosstour and Insight won't touch Venza and Prius.

Prius is definitely not for you. You should sell it to someone who'll appreciate it. Then, use that money and buy an Audi that you've always wanted. Coming to this board and put down a Prius is not going to do you or anyone else any good. What's it going to change? the car? you? neither. Just get rid of it. It's easy. You're not married to it. When you part ways, you don't have to give it half of your worldly possessions. There's no alimony, no child support. It'll be a lesson learned, stay with what works for you. In your case an Audi. If you want a Audi Hybrid look into the Q5 Hybrid.

I've never understood the whole luxury car attitude. I've driven many cars in my life, and believe it or not the luxury cars are the ones I like the least. I don't really care what materials the interior is made out of, as long as it isn't going to fall apart. I've never understood fascination with things like leather and wood panelling. To me, those are things of the 19th century. I live in the 21st century and I prefer my vehicle to be high tech. Wood paneling, for example, makes a car appear low-tech to me.

The Prius is the absolutely best car I've ever driven. We've had 4 of them in my household, two Gen-1 and two Gen-2 models. I've also driven the Gen-3 (the 2010 in question in this thread) and I thought it was an incredible piece of technology. The absolute best car on the road. Only when the Nissan Leaf comes out, will there be anything to even compete with it.

If the original poster thinks that this car is cheap, then he needs to go drive some really cheap cars like a Kia or something.

Lol! Mebe he should have gotten a Chevy Aveo! I would never pay more than 25 grand or so for a car! It's just to get you from point A to point B. I prefer cloth to leather because I don't like how the thinner leather wrinkles and wears. I'm fine with how the Prius handles and performs, compared to the other cars in it's price range. Plastics could stand a little padding. I really love going nearly one and a half months without filling up!

i stopped reading this on page three, but I have to say I'm not sure where anyone is getting the the car is "unsafe" or "shakey" on the highway. I drove it just today for the first time on the interstate at 82mph and the thing sailed as smooth as glass for me. didn't feel shakey or wobbly. i always felt in complete control of the car. i did lane changes etc. Maybe you have a have a problem with yours, like a tire out of round or out of balance.

also, i spent an hour on the highway with my brother's gen 2 prius that had 95K miles on it, and it felt very solid as well.

as far as the plastic, most cars are plastic inside. i don't really think it's all that bad. the steering wheel would be better with leather, but i've had leather on steering wheels since 2004 so it's what i'm used to.
