Looking to upgrade to a PIAA whiter Bulb .... Is it worth it or stay stock? TD: 2006 Toyota Prius Headlight Bulbs - 2006 Toyota Prius Headlight Bulbs PIAA, Performance Parts and Accessories No. 1 Some have complained about installing headlight bulbs being a pain in the booty. THANKS !!!
You should probably stay stock (or at least use the Sylvania Siverstar whatever bulbs). I had PIAAs once on another car and they burned out really fast. The HID bulbs are much harder to replace than the halogen ones.
Real HIDs aren't all that expensive, but I don't know if the halogen reflector will work. These DDM kits are like $50. Don't get the slim ballast ones, people have reported failures with those. DDM Tuning : HID Kits
of course they won't work as well. but they still put out more lights then the PIAA bulbs. paying just a little more.
Depending on headlight usage, you may get anywhere from 1-3 years out of them. In Canada, are lights are on all the time (albeit at reduced intensity) because of the DRL requirement hence the aftermarket lights all lasted under a year (9-11 months for Sylvania Silverstars and Phillips X-Treme Power bulbs). If you want brightness, I do recommend the X-Treme Power bulbs. (found at powerbulbs.com It's a UK site with free shipping)
i have a pair of Piaa in my RX it's being more than a year and they are still kicking i just installed " Luminics JDM Yellow " in my Prius i think they only make my fogs look good, instead of being "useful"
