My 2006 prius came without Fog Lamps in the bottom Grill. And my local Toyoya Dealer ( Keyes Toyota on Van Nuys Blvd ) gave me a price of $700.00 to install factory fog lamps. People say the factory Fog Lights are weak and for show purposes only. That said, after surfing the internet I found a web site that offers Prius Fog Lamps that look liek stock. I'd like to go as bright as possible without breaking any California laws. TD: Toyota Prius Fog Lights, Prius Halo Projector Foglight Kit I also want to upgrade my stock headlight bulbs to PIAA bulbs. Your comments and/or advise appreciated in advance. Thanks again.
Those just look like generic fog lamps. If you search here you will find the part number for what is required to retrofit factory style fog lamps.
Wil you have to buy a new lower grill for this project? I thought about doing this a few months ago on my 08... took it to a local auto accessory add on store and the guy told me I needed a new grill also... never looked into to more.
The previous owner of my 2007 put on PIAA fogs that work quite well. Looks like a pro install, probably at a local speed shop. No idea what it cost, but it's an option. I think they also put in PIAA headlamp bulbs at the same time, because when one failed a while back that's what I pulled out. They may be brighter and cost more, but they don't last long. Not worth it in my opinion. - D
I did not think the grill on my 08 allowed for anything (inserts) to pop in... or out... in the area for the fog lights... am I wrong? Thanks
The grill is 3 pieces; 2 end pieces and a center section. The 2 endpieces are what you should replace if you want to install factory fog lights. You can see in the pic below what the grill looks like with the end pieces removed.
