I traded in My wife's 9 year old Toyota Highlander with 125,000 miles for a new classic silver 2010 Prius II. She picked it out because of its features and "quality feel". We had just looked at Hyundai and the quality difference is unbelieveable. You get what you pay for. Although gas milage was important, it was not number one on the must have list. I drive a 2006 Honda Civic EX 5sp manual and get between 38 and 42 mpg. After one month with the Prius, I am ready to trade in my Civic. I just have to talk my wife into agreeing to it. I have my eye on a nice white Blizzard Pearl III. Maybe in the spring. One thing that has been annoying is the way my wife drives the Prius. Her foot is either on the gas or the brake. Coasting is not a function she understands. I drove her Prius for one week and was able to get the milage up to 57.6 mpg. When she drives it ( It is her car), she cannot get more than 46 .2 MPG. The most she got out of the Highlander (4cyl) was 20 MPG. She loves the car alot so I just let her enjoy it and not complain about her gas wasting driving habits.
Like you said, it is her car. I have to put up with the same thing with my wife, although she does not drive a Pruis. Get yours soon since Toyota is still offering free maintenance (2 yrs). :welcome:
