I had this issue with my 2010 Prius III. When the sun was out, you could barely see the outside temp etc. Took it to the dealer for my first 5K service and told them about the problem, and they ordered the part. Much, much, better after the replacement. Talk to your dealer. Apparently, it was from a bad batch of plastic used for the bezel in those units.

I am surprised there isn't a recall on this. Yes, a small batch, but it can lead to problems down the road if owners don't know what to do.
