I hear a rattle from the sun roof… but only when it is open to a particular position. The one it stops at while being closed from the fully open position.

Bothers me enough that I won't use that position, but that's not a big inconvenience.

Oh yeah. Plenty. 1400 miles on my 2010 V, and I must say that the squeaks & rattles in this car are more prolific than any car I have owned. Actually, more than many other Toyotas I have experience with.

    Disappointing.

Until time has passed and the dealers and factory have have had lots of practice on other people's cars, I'm afraid we'll have to live with them.
I'm smelling a 1990's GM "snap together" assembly technique.

    Gen 3 "Bridge" rattle fix.

While driving down a rough section of freeway recently, I stuck my parking pass in the gap where the "bridge" and center console meet. (Just forward of where you open the center console lid.) It eliminated 85% of the rattles I hear daily. I took it out, and the rattles returned. I tried this over about 10 miles of rough freeway. The parking pass is about the size of a credit card, but about twice as thick. Now I'm on a search for some dark-grey or black material that is not cheesy-looking; preferably a high-density foam, rubber sheet or plastic shim that can be carefully trimmed and inserted into this gap. The "bridge" on these cars apparently spent too little time in the flex/rattle/noise testing department. If you firmly place a finger in the previously mentioned gap, you can feel it change as you drive over rough surfaces. I have also determined that something is rattling around inside the bulge below the drive select lever/shifter. Tap on it from below and you'll hear what may be wiring or something loose inside there.

By the Time Toyota gets around to a solution to these vexing rattles, Prius Chat folks will have figured most of them out.

Besides the mainly referred dash rattles, I also hear squeeks coming from the 5th door, maybe the plastic panel...

It would be nice to keep this thread fixed (sticky), since it now contains many DIY simple repair descriptions.

They won't make it sticky. Bad reputation or image for Toyota.

    They? Oops
Didn't know it was administrated so close to Toyota MC. Prius-pt forum is independent...

I guess Toyota must have heard all of you with a rattle problem. My car was made in April 2010 and I have no rattles yet.

I learned to live with the dash rattles in the 04, they seemed to come and go. They went for good when I traded it for the GenIII.

I think the hot weather here in Ontario makes the rattles worse. Same here -- I hear it at the passenger side -- I think it's somewhere near the glovebox.

It may depend on what's rattling? It's hot here also and mine are mostly gone, I expect them back next fall though. Temperature above 60 or 70 degrees F. and they are mostly gone, colder than that and they start to come back. Colder it gets the more it rattles.

My most annoying rattle is on the passenger side somewhere near the glovebox also. I still have it in hot weather too, if you find it be sure to let us know what it was.

Have no fear, just be careful putting it back in. You have to use a little bit of force but no to much. I've had mine in and out about a dozen times and it's still in one piece.

I just bought my, 2010 silver prius, and it's full of body panel’s noises, interior rattling noises, it's crazy. I called today about how the outside panels make sounds as I wax the car and they said no one else has complained about it, right Toyota. In the armrest I put felt tabs between the sliding top and it stopped the noise in the armrest console.

Have owned an 08 Prius for only 2 months. Rattle in center of dashboard started last month and gets louder every day. I live where it's very hot out. It appears to be coming from the CENTER, behind the radio/ac screen but impossible to determine without ripping out the entire dash which I DON'T want to do. Does not appear to be off to side by airbag or glovebox; rather, dead center.
    Any fix for this?
