...and the damn forum goes down the same day so I can't even glow! A bit anticlimactic but I'm looking forward to New Year's for another good reason. Seaside pearl and pkg 8 (hopefully). Should I leave other deposits with other dealers?
Why are people buying an unseen/driven car when they don't even know the price? Is it just me or do others find this odd? OK,, I can understand If you're super rich, but otherwise it appears to be irrational exuberance. And we know where that got us back in 2000.
Was your dealer able to provide you with any information more than you yourself actually brought to the table from the forums? I've still not heard a definite on heated seats (whether leather or not) I await the new year as well, put my order in last week (no deposit required). Waiting on potentially a black 7 or 8, depending on price and features 8 brings.
You don't have to be super rich to order a 2006 that is unseen/undriven. The best guess of the dealer is that it will behave very similar to the 2005 that I was able to test drive. Mechanically, it will be the same, the interior will be the same, the packages will be different. I ordered one about a month ago for delivery in about January 2006. So far, my dealer hasn't come back to even tell me what will be in the package. He didn't know when I ordered it. I think from the web, I have a good idea, but he didn't know when I ordered it. If I don't like it when it comes, I don't take delivery. They'll give my $500 back and they sell my car to someone else in about 10 seconds. If I don't order one now and I wait to see the 06.. Then order it, it may be an 07 before I get one. The 07 could be a newer body style, different drivetrain, it's hard to say really. Plus, I'd end up driving my 18mpg pickup over my 130 mile per day commute another 4 or 5 months just so that I can have that comfort of having seen the '06 before ordering. As for not having the price beforehand.... It's going to be MSRP whenever I buy it. If I can't swing msrp when it's time to pick it up, I have to fail to take delivery and then someone else will get my car and I'll continue to be a blight on the nations fuel supply.
I think when people said they "ordered" 2006 Prius, they are basically put their name on a list with the option to buy. Most people put down a refundable deposit so they can back out if they want. But, who wants to back out?
Hello, new to the forum but I too "pulled the plug" yesterday. Datona Toyota, fifth on the list. Package 6 (I really don't need GPS navigation, I only go to work and back), Silver Pine Mica, Grey Cloth interior, no dealer options. MSRP, refundable $500 with January delivery. Come on January! Regards, Steve
It was only a $100 down and the dealer was clueless as to what would be on 06 models. And I rented a Prius in 04 for week and tested an 05 a couple times so it's not an untested car for me.
I put my money down at Riverhead Toyota...somewhat reluctantly. I have bought several Toyota's from Sunrise Toyota over the past 20 years for myself and members of the family...But Sunrise wanted $1,000-$2,000 over MSRP--Hwy robbery..so I test drove an '05 at Riverhead by taking one out on a rental for the weekend...I came back with my wife and got on the waiting list for an '06 in Mica green with an #8 package...would sure like to know what I'm really waiting for....for a January delivery instead of all this guessing...its a shame that you have to get in line to buy this car....
Wow, you're pretty ignorant. The 2006 is the same as the 2005 except added features. This person could test drive a 2005 and it will be the exact car. Also, is it your place to judge other people's pucahses. Nope.
