Hi All! Just looking for any friendly suggestions for what tires to get to replace the stock tires on my 2008 Touring. I've searched through some threads on here but haven't found too much in the way of advice... I would prefer some sort of all-weather tire, living here in Missouri we do get some ice/snow. The stock ones lasted about 45,000 miles - hoping to get a lot more life out of the next set!
Hi volcomholls, I'm in the same situation right now; looking for tires for my 2008 Touring ed. After reading all the comments in the forum, it seems that the best option would be to go to 205's/55/r16. Then I can go for more options than the 195 options; that are extremely limited in the US. Of course, one big concern is the drop in MPG, however, I read that having 205's may improve the driving in bad weather conditions (I live in IL)....big tradeoff. So far, my Prius with the Turanza 400 (195/55/16) is pretty bad in snow/ice/water condiitons (really bad!). I hope that changing to 205's with a tire model that is good for bad weather conditions may be a good option. Based on most reviews on the web: Good Year Assurance Triple tread (~$125) and Hankook Optimo H727 (~$100) appears to be good options. Another tire I'm considering is: Michellin Hydroedge (with good reviews as well). Suggestions from other Touring owners? or those who changed to 205's? Thanks
I think this was the last good thread we had on the subject: http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-ii-...eplacement-tires-prius-touring-195-55r16.html Personally, for 4 season use, I'd go with the Hankook Optimo H727 in the 205/55R16 size. You can get them from Gripston.com for around $400 with no tax and free shipping.
Boo, Thanks for the info. I decided to go for the Hankook Optimo H727. Good price and very good reviews for performance in all weather conditions. I know they don't have a long record as they are a relatively new model.
I put 205s on my touring, no effect on mileage, and they look great, little wider (aftermarket rims). Go skinny for snows on the factory wheels. I'm a General Tire fan, I think they are a pretty good value.
