Greetings, The MultiFunctionDisplay on my 2007 with 107,000 miles has stopped working on two instances in the last week. For the last instance the display would not respond to the on-screen prompts nor the external buttons. When the car was turned off and then turned on again, the display worked as it should. Any input is greatly appreciated. Victor
+1 The flakey mfd was primarily a 2004-2005 phenomina. Ours ran & ran until 2007 before if gave the same symptoms you describe. Check your VIN ... was yours a really early production model? I'd only heard of a hand full of the 2006's being affected, and not the '07's.
My 2007 Touring did the same thing then the screen would fade out until it finally died. I was at 59,000. The rip off dealer said it would cost $6,851 to replace it, I argued with them that it was a rip off and I could get it reparied cheaper through connections here. I ended up trading it for a new 2010 Gen III, total bummer I LOVED my 2007 and now miss it. I was getting 57 MPG and now back into breaking in a new one again, not happy but I don't have to worry about the MFD anymore. Good luck hope you can get yours fixed without too much cost.
Contact Steve at Plug In Hybrid Electric Vehicle PHEV to see if he can supply a salvaged MFD for your 2007. He is located near Indianapolis. JeffD
