A local dealer here in N CA has quoted me $750 off MSRP (on an '06) for their Costco tie-in.

Anyone use the Costco deal? How much off?

I know some dealers have excluded Prius from discount consideration.

I tried through Costco but the only Toyota dealer in the NJ area who was affiliated with them did not want to be bother at all when he heard the word, "Prius." I got the whole line about how the car is in high demand and there would be a six month waiting list, blah, blah, blah.

I asked about the Costco Auto discount and was forwarded to Longo Toyota in El Monte. HOWEVER, Longo said they would not honor costco's discount because the Prius was in high demand.

May be out on a limb, but I don't think they (the dealer) have that luxury. If one dealer did it, It makes me think that corporate approved it for the prius. These fleet / discount deals are not up to the dealer to opt in or opt out of.

I work for a company that provides services to Toyota. As such we have a corporate deal. The deal with my company is only Camry and Corolla, but I know if they don't adhear to the letter of the deal, lots of lawyers start talking.

In the end, never trust the dealer. Get costco or whoever to tell you if the deal is in place. If it is, tell the manager of the dealer who said it wasn't that they are in violation of corporate policy and in danger of loosing thier Toyota franchise.

Prius probably is excluded but definately ask the "not-toyota" party in the deal.

For me, the participating Costco dealership nearest me was Dublin Toyota in Northern CA. I contacted them on 8/20/05 and was told the Costco discount was $300. I said OK and on 9/15/05, I picked up my 2005 Prius in exactly the package and color that I wanted.

The experience was painless and I didn't even have to put down a deposit. Prem Chand was the contact that I worked with and he was great. I've never had an easier time buying a car.

At the time I purchased my vehicle, no one was discounting off of MSRP due to the fenzy over the carpool lane stickers.

Can you share with us the name of the dealer that is offering $750 off MSRP for Costco members?

In November 2003, Costco referred me to Toyota of North Hollywood.

On April Fools Day, 2004, the Costco rep at that dealership called me and offered to sell me a Prius (Seaside BC) for $5,000 over MSRP. No, it was not an April Fools Day joke, he was serious. I was quite frank about what he could do to himself.

Costco could not have been any less interested in my complaint. That was the only negative experience I have ever had in my dealings with Costco.

I too was silly enough to try this. I was offered $500 off of sticker from Tom Pappas Toyota in St. Peters, MO (St. Louis suburb). However I was told a 12-18 month wait... LOL. I found a sister of a friend who works a Toyota dealer in Columbus, OH who could get me one much quicker. I will pick it up in the next week. Can't wait! B)

Hm, interesting. endoildependency, were you given an estimate on when you could expect to take delivery of the car? I have a couple of deposits sitting at Toyota of Sunnyvale (MSRP minus $350, expecting late Jan to Mar) and Capitol Toyota (MSRP, expecting early Jan) and am curious as to how this one stacks up.

We ordered our Prius in January 2004. We went to the local Costco dealership (Palo Alto) and at that time, the Prius was excluded due to high demand, however the Costco rep went ahead and gave us $270 off MSRP because they wanted Costco buyers to keep coming back. We had to wait, but so did nearly everyone else at that time. Anyway, we've used the Costco program several times and have been very happy with ease of purchase it provides...

That's why I posted the other thread on "when were YOU told...?

The dealer with the COSTCO tie-in says "late Jan.-Feb."

Another dealer whose list I'm on says "late Dec.-early Jan."

Toyota of Carlsbad is the local Costco Toyota dealership in North County San Diego. They exclude the Prius from Costco pricing. Toyota of Escondido will give you Costco pricing if you deal with their Internet Sales staff.

I was also referred to the Toyota of Carlsbad dealership for Costco pricing. I never received a response from either of the 2 reps nor did they return my phone calls. Incidentally, I had an appt. with the Internet Salesperson to check out the Prius, which he called to setup the day before, and he never showed up for the appt. :( I'm still waiting to get my Prius, hopefully I can check out the 2006 model soon and order.

    Please report it to Costco.

Someone reported on another thread there's a "glut" of '05 Priuses at N CA dealers, as shown on Craigslist (which I've never seen).

Would you travel 400 miles to get one?

I will report it. And I would definitely travel that distance to get one. It could be a fun road trip!

I'm getting $300 off MSRP (via the Costco discount) for my '06 at Stevinson West in Denver.

They only had 1 dealer within 200 miles from me, and that one excludes the Prius from the Costco pricing (in CT) :(

I posted earlier that I wasn't real happy with the dealer Costco recommended me to, however, I did want to offer that they provided me with a good deal on financing. I wanted somthing easy and decided after a recommendation from a friend to try lendingtree.com. Their best off was through Capitol One. I saw an e-mail later that made me think "Gee! I should check out the Costco loan program". I ended up and got .45% less than offer through lendingtree.com. I thought that constitued a pretty good deal! :) The process may have been one of the easiest car loans I've ever done.
