This is insane, a Craigslist ad, owner sale from Sac. CA, 2009 Toyota Prius Package #6 $18,500 3,250 miles on fully loaded non-touring pristine looking 2009, leather, nav, the works. asking $18,500 Insane, these things were stickered at $29k in Sept. 2008 and dealers were getting all of that. I sent this person an email like - is the market so bad you must ask this low of price? Geeeeez
Tucson is not a very large city, yet one of the two Toyota dealers shows 61 2010 available for sale: New-Inventory Precision Toyota of Tucson Tucson AZ I recall seeing local ads mentioning $3K discount on new Prius, not sure whether this is from MSRP or an inflated dealer price. kbb.com shows private party value of a 2009 Prius with the equipment and odometer reading per your OP ranging from $18K to $21K. 2009 Toyota Prius - Private Party Pricing Report - Kelley Blue Book There are 700K 2G Prius in the US, so presumably everyone who wanted one has one by now - it's not as if there is a big pent-up demand. So I think the price that was being requested is reasonable if the seller actually wishes to sell.
I do not know. I think that car's been in an accident. I see many salvaged cars offered from the Sacramento area. Usually they state that in the ad. I wouldn't take a $13k+ loss for 3k miles. pfffft. Guarantee that car was over $31k OTD. Dealers are still asking ~ $20k for '09s with over 30k miles, even package 2's http://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/ctd/1834450667.html I've seen 'certified used' Toyotas with heavily swirled finishes all over. Mine is nicer than most I've seen used. Funny how certified used Toyota dealers never advertise what package they are selling. Shady. this look like package 2 with 19k miles, asking almost $22k. Pretty high. http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/ctd/1833140120.html
According to eBay Motors, the car has a salvage title. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...50616840165&viewitem=#title-and-problem-check
Details of the damage incident and repair details are listed in the eBay write-up. Seems fairly minor to me, if so the car is a great buy, at the price and the mileage listed.
I don't believe anyone is going to issue a salvage title for such cosmetic damage. The car was sold & stayed in VA for ~1000 miles then ends up in CA.
Cars involved in "fender bender" type accidents don't wind up with "Salvage Titles". I'd stay away from this one.
