Another group buy on mouldings?

:| since there hasnt been much activity in this thread, i guess there's no deal in sight anytime soon for a group buy...

About a week ago someone asked if I experienced the "end lift" problem when installing the molding. I didn't reply because I hadn't installed the molding yet. I was waiting for my door edge guards to arrive before installing the molding. The guards came yesterday and I installed both guards and molding this morning without any trouble.

When the moldings first arrived they were all bowed to some degree so that the ends lifted off a flat surface so while I was waiting for the guards to arrive I reversed the bow in the moldings. I placed the moldings over a narrow table and put a quickclamp on each end so that the weight of the clamps pulled down the ends and the center of the molding was arched up over the table. I left the pieces like that for about a week. When I took the clamps off this morning all of the pieces were bowed slightly in the reversed direction. When I placed the pieces on a flat surface adhesive side down they either lay flat or showed a very slight bow upwards. I don't know if this was necessary but I had the time and the initial situation was a bit worrisome.

Ok I talked to my Toyota dealer and they said they had no listing from Toyota that these are available all the way up to 2007. I guess I "assumed" these were a Toyota part, if this is the case can I get a part number to pass along? If not can someone point me twords the source and I will call them?

They do a group buy for clubs and the code at checkout is pr000006 for a 10% off $139. Doesn't seem right as metro toyota is at $115!?

This is the info given to me when I called.
I did not try to checkout as the price was higher, but better than the $300 I was quoted at the dealer.

Dawn and sportwing websites are the same place. Is anyone out there that has a business and would check on the wholesale price to see if it is feasible to organize a group buy and account for the cost of distributing? Might not be worth it or the volume we have may work out.

I talked with a guy at Dawn and oddly he said $118 + frt. Then when I questioned him on Sportwing being the same place and can get it for $115 + frt regular price there he switched back to $139 + frt...

Anyone have a different source for this part? Hate to give people like this money if he changes his mind when you inquire about a issue like that....

Body side moldings from Dawn Products have been on my Prius for 18 months with no sign of curl or wear & tear. Am very pleased.
