August 16, 2005 -- Louisville, KY -- Hybrid technology will be one of the main features at the Toyota booth during this year's Kentucky State Fair August 18 - 28 at the Kentucky Fair - Exposition Center in Louisville. The Kentucky State Fair is the largest state-wide event in the state attracting more than 700,000 visitors.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc. (TMMK) will sponsor an exhibit at the fair for the 16th consecutive year. This past May, TMMK announced plans to produce a Camry hybrid, becoming Toyota's first North America plant to assemble a Toyota Synergy Technology (Hybrid System) product. Although production of the Camry hybrid is not scheduled until late 2006, TMMK will have a Highlander Hybrid Cut-Away model on display to demonstrate the hybrid technology. TMMK's exhibit will also feature interactive displays, the Kentucky-built Solara convertible and the all-new Avalon sedan.

"The State Fair is a great Kentucky tradition and gives our company an opportunity to educate and demonstrate Toyota's impact in the state," said Kim Menke, Manager of Community Relations at TMMK. "I think the state fair is an important event that also allows us to showcase our team members, many of whom will be on hand to meet the public."

TMMK is Toyota's largest North American manufacturing facility with a production capacity of 500,000 vehicles and engines a year. The plant started operations in 1988 and employs about 7,000 Kentuckians.

TMMK's exhibit will be located in the East Wing of the Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center. More information about the fair is available at www.kystatefair.org.

Darn, I would have liked to have seen that, I'm in the area on Vacation, and leaving the 28th. My rental car is a Chevy Craptastic, I can't wait to get back to my Prius. When I get home, I will be putting in my second tank of gas since purchase, so I am looking forward to the math!
    Cheers,
    Sara
