I elected not to take satellite radio -- and when the free trial ended, I started getting bombarded with commercials on all 3 satellite channels when I use the mode button to change modes. Does anyone know how to turn off these satellite channels? The commercials (always at about 90dba level) are really annoying! The dealer (of course) knows nothing! Kim
If you have nav, I think you can change the volume level in satellite mode to a low level through the audio setup screen. Otherwise you will need to avoid using the mode button and just press the FM button directly or have the satellite input physically disconnected from the back of the radio.
Would it work to change it to a channel that is not on? or maybe tune it to the channel that displays the Radio ID number, either 1 or 0 I think.
Thanks -- I guess I'll have to do as you suggested. How difficult is it to disconnect satellite from the back of the radio? I ask my dealer how to stop this -- but they didn't have a clue! Kim
I get 3 channels from satellite radio. I don't ever expect to pay for satellite and would like to remove those channels completely. Any future suggestions? Kim
No I have no more suggestions. I thought you could tune it to channel 000 which on mine just gives me the Radio ID # and no audio. I didn't realize you couldn't do that. You could call XM and ask it they could turn their signal to your radio off, the chances are probably less than one in a thousand that they would, or even could, but it might not hurt to call. Unhooking the antenna may work if there is a separate input for the satellite antenna. I understand it is located in the base of the AM/FM radio antenna and I don't know it it uses the same coax or not, but some of the guys on this forum would know because they have changed the audio system.
As mentioned (correctly) above, don't use the "mode" or the "Sat" buttons and you'll avoid the XM promos.
