Can someone comment on the console covers that use velcro? Do they damage the console and is it better to get something that slips over? I dont want to end up doing damage to the console while trying to protect it!Thanks!!
I have a cover on mine and have had one on a couple of Honda cars...no problems taking the cover off when I traded the vehicles and no marks were left
The center console cover is held on by 4 screws. I removed those screws and placed a cheap fabric over the stock fabric. I tucked it in and screwed it back down. The stock fabric is held on with glue in places so my cover will have no affect on it. For a more professional look, I thought I would need to use some glue in places, which would damage the stock fabric, but I never did and it still looks great after 8 months. My intent was to do the same thing to the arm rests on the doors, but those are more complicated to remove so I never got to them. But for the center console, my question is why would anyone buy anything when it is so easy to just get any piece of fabric and make your own. I'm thinking of getting some pieces of leather and do it again, and this time do the doors.
Great idea, Prius04! Does the console top pop right out, or do you have to get a little rough with it? Don't want to mess anything up. (Bought some material in the remnant bin of the fabric store that's going to look great.....79 cents) Thanks!
Remove the 4 screws and it just comes apart. The original fabric is glued on so put the new fabric right over it. Like I said, I thought I was going to have to glue the remnant on in order to make it perfect, but I never did and it's been a year. From above it looks perfect, when you open it, it looks close to perfect as well and if I gave it a little more attention, it would look perfect there too, but no one sees it. Good luck.
Has anyone added any additional padding to the console and then added their own fabric/leather/whatever ? Just curious....
Anyone have the beige fabric interior and put a leather console cover on ? I'm wondering if the bisque color in leather is close to te bisque in the fabric?
