Our only car was recently totalled! We now have to purchase a new car. After much consideration we have decided to purchase a Prius. Unfortunately, since we have such a short time frame, we have not been able to do much reaserch on price. We have seen this one and the dealer is willing to decrease the price to 16,500. Is it a good deal? Please help! 2008 Toyota Prius 5dr HB Mileage: 17,946 Color:Driftwood Pearl Engine:1.5L 4 Cyl. sounds a bit high from the options listed. what package is it? thats important. than you can look at KBB values to compare pricing. seeing that a 2010 base is around 21K purchase price, does it sound good to you?
https://priuschat.com/forums/knowle...andard-optional-equipment-some-countries.html should help the OP, a little. Pet peeve of mine... it irks me when people post cars for sale (happens at work my work) and they list features or "features" that are standard on the car, regardless of how stripped down, or are commonplace on cars of that class. It almost looks like they're trying to inflate how well equipped the car is. Examples: airbags for both passenger and driver when they've been required by law for many years, cupholders, power windows, steering and brakes when they're standard on all Priuses and it's becoming hard to find new cars w/o them, etc.
Unless they're leaving out some options (unlikely, since they seem to think airbags are optional) I'm going to guess you have a Package One, which was the very lowest line sold. Even the level 2 had SKS (Smart Key System) backup camera, stability control, MP3/WMA stereo, etc. I just lost my Prius (see fire thread) and I'm looking around to replace it, also. If this is a Package One, I think the price is a bit high. I have no idea what they think Parking Assist is on a 2008 Prius, certainly not what the term commonly implies.
Hi Juan and Maggie, I just bought (taking delivery this coming week) a 2008 Touring with Leather/Nav (I believe called package 6) for $14,985. It has 42,000 miles and 2 small dings that the Ford dealer is having repaired by paintless dent removal guy. I hope that this info assists you.
I would urge you to compare against other cars in your local market: Used Cars for Sale: Listings Near 28203 - Cars.com I used 28203 as a Charlotte, NC zip code at cars.com. A different zip code might yield slightly different results.
$16,500 isn't a terrible price for a base Prius, given the low mileage. Bear in mind this is the asking price, though. The markup on used cars is MUCH higher than new cars and they expect to bargain (no matter what they will tell you). See if you can get it for $15,000 plus tax and tags (no "documentation fee").
