I plan on adding a Stebel Nautilus Compact Horn to my '06 Prius, and I have a couple of questions.

First, where is the original horn.

Second, where can I pull 12v to the new horn?

I've added this very horn to two motorcycles. I use a 30 amp relay, and use the original horn leads as the trip to the relay. Then pull a new 12v line to power the relay/horn. The new horn will pull 18 amps.

This new horn sounds like a freight train and really helps gets people's attention when needed. I'm downright embarrassed to use the original Prius horn.

    Thanks!

Get your 12V from the fuse box. The boost terminal is a good spot. Use an in-line fuse, and keep the lead to the boost terminal short so as to reduce the chance of shorting it before the fuse. You can bolt a ring terminal with your fuse wire under the boost terminal.

Thanks for the hints David B. I figured on doing just 'bout exactly what you're describing, but wondered if that's where people were usually getting the 12v.

I also found a few threads describing the horn location, so it looks like I'm all set for a little weekend project.

I'm using the black version of the Stebel Nautilus for the Prius because it's out of view. This past weekend I installed the chrome version on my VTX. Nothing like being seen and heard when you're competing on the So Cal freeways.;)

Pull the 12V from the fusebox on the driver's side in the engine compartment - you can get it directly from the large jumper cable terminal, or if you wish, pull the fusebox out, access an empty fuse spot, and wire it in there (much more involved, of course).

Hi RedCard, I'm working on installing the same horn in my 2010 Prius but am having trouble finding a spot to hook into the 12v battery. Did you have any luck with your installation? If so would you mind sharing the details and/or a picture of how you hooked into the power supply?

    Thanks.
