Hi Folks, I have an opporuntiy to purchase a 2010 Prius III w/Navigation. It's got 13,000 miles, blizzard white. He's asking $22,500 but I think I can get it for $21,000. The car appears in good shape but has a scuff on the lower front bumper and a door ding on the back bumper. Do you think it would be worth $21,000? thanks!
It looks like a new one would have an MSRP of about $26,800 so you can figure you could get it for $25k. Firgure the car is nearly a year old in terms of model year and mileage and $21k would not be unreasonable.
What about the door dings and scuffs? Does that lower the price/value? Are Blizzard White Prius' easy to correct these kinds of paint chips?
MSRP on my 2010 Prius IV w/navigation was over $30,388. It has a few extras installed by the dealer but even before that, it was $29,705 MSRP. It would seem a price of $21,000 would be reasonable. Have you had it checked by the Toyota dealer?
Not yet but I checked carfax and everything checked out. he says he has all the maintenance records, only two oil changes and tire rotations. He just needs to get out of the loan. I get the balance of the warranties too. I have to fly to San Diego to pick it up. Should be an adventure! I had him show me the entire car via Skyp so we went through it pretty good. If I don't like it, I'll just get back on a plane. $170, It's worth the gamble.
do you think these cosmetic scuffs will be easily corrected by a professional painter? will these blemishes lower the value substantially?
My 2010 III with Nav had the carpet mats, window tint and rear bumper protector. The MSRP that I paid was about $26,600. I think $21,000 for basically a one year old car with 13,000 miles is not a bad price. I have just over 13,000 miles on my car. I would think the dings and nicks could be repaired fairly inexpensively if they bother you that bad. If the dings bother you too much, you may want to look at purchasing a new car if you can afford the difference.
I purchased a new III w/ nav, mats, 3-years service, etc. for a shade over $24k. There are probably still deals like that (if not better) out there. I'd spend the few thousand extra for the peace of mind and time savings -- though your adventure does provide entertainment value that's tough to put a price on.
I bought the Car. I LOVE IT!!!! I drove from San Diego to Roseville CA and it was wonderful! I averaged about 47 mph going around 80mph on I-5. I wasn't sure about the gas tank so I filled up at 420 miles and calculated that I only used 9 gallons. The car is extremely clean and very comfortable on a 8.5 hour drive. I'm thrilled that I purchased this wonderful car!!!
I have those same front bumper license plate areas and my car was new. But for my new III with nav I paid 24800 and it was before all of the recalls. I would probably get him down to probably at least 18000-19000. Did the seller brake this car in? oil changes etc...
