Problems with dimmer switch?

    I have a 2005 Prius. When my headlights are on, the instrument cluster with the speedometer etc and the mfd are lit up so I can see. The buttons on the steering wheel and the cd/stereo control buttons are not lit up. I tried turning the dimmer switch but the buttons lights flicker a little but barely enough to see or they remain dark. The speedometer display goes dark or lights up when i turn the switch.

    The lights on the steering wheel are not affected by the dimmer wheel. They are always on when the headlights are on. However, they are very dim and can only be seen when it is quite dark. There is no brightness adjustment for them.

    what about the buttons for the cd/stereo controls and the buttons around the mfd (climate, audio,..etc...)? I have the same problems with them...as I turn the dimmer switch they light up very faintly then they go out.

    I have a similar issue. Did anyone ever figure out why this is having an issue. Or how easy it was to change the dimmer switch?

    Same issue with my 2006 Prius -- must have dimmer all the way ON to see anything. No lights on radio at all. Scrolling dimmer wheel down = all goes black. Help!
